Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here

Recommended Posts

Good Morning, Violets..

Brrrrrrrrrrrrr another cold morning here. 47 degrees when I got up. It's a lazy day for me today. No Ethan, no rehearsals, no meetings. Just the Bobster and I all day together. Hope we survive!! We have the heater cranked up on the pool so we can hopefully get in it this afternoon. MIght be the last time of the season. I'm afraid to see the gas bill this month. Luckily have a big credit as I overpay in the summer, so that will help this month's bill at least. I'm going to get my new glasses in a bit. Sure hope they are an improvement over what I have. They will be transition lenses and that will be great not having to carry along those dreaded clip on sunglasses.

TracyK and Terry... I'm thinking about you two all the time lately with the storm coming. Lots of prayers and purple power sent your way. Haydee, are you in any danger from the storm??? I don't know for sure who is in its path. I heard from my friend in Mobile this morning that they are expected to be spared any major problems. Just lots of rain and wind.

Michelle.. hope you find just the right dress and accessories. Isn't it a lot more fun shopping now than it was many, many pounds ago???

I got a call yesterday from a mom and son who are looking to get the band. They will be at my next support group meeting. We're a growing group, but not in the wrong way!!!

A lady from Human Resources at the hospital got my name from someone and she called me to ask if there was a support group in the area. I said YES, I started one months ago. She was surprised. She said she has had many, many calls wanting to know if there was a lapband support group in the area. I told her a notice is in the paper each month. I'm anxious to see how many more people we attract. I've been told that even in our small town there are lots and lots of bandsters.

One of the ladies in my flute group who has seen me since way before banding and every week since, said yesterday that I had lost a LOT of weight. ummmmmmm duh!!! lol It sure is nice to get compliments even a yar and a half out. Just wish I could get more weight to come off. TracyK.. I understand how you're feeling. I have my days too. I'm so stalled and just wishing this plateau would break and the scale would start moving again. We had to change our fill appointment. It's now the 22nd. I'm ready and I know the Bobster is REALLY ready for a fill.

Gotta go get my teeth brushed and hair curled and head out to get my glasses. Everyone have a great day. Catch ya later!!

Terri~ Breathe honey! xoxoxoox

Kat~ Totally sad story!

Michelle~ shop until you drop or find a dress, which ever comes first! I hate dresses, I would wear a pair of linen capris and a nice rayon shirt...but that is just me!

Susie~ Stay strong!

Haydee~ where the hell are you???

OK...love and happiness to all my violets...gotta run do spelling!

Texas girls are in my thoughts and prayers!!!!

My mom used to wash my mouth out with soap, she didn't scrape our teeth she would just rub the soap all over our tongues!

I don't feel motivated to go to work!!!

Kat I need to come to your house for boot camp!!!!

Judy, I was amazed at how cold it gets so early there, is that normal?

Well off to hop in shower!!!

Blue dot is where Tracy lives, green is where I live and red is where Haydee lives. Tracy lives right on the coastline of Galveston Bay and is in greatest danger of the storm surge. She needs special prayers for sure. The threat to Haydee and I will be flooding an damage from flying debris. A strong Category 3 hurricane can rip the roof off of a well built structure. We will most likely be on the "nasty side" of the storm (the NE side) where most of the tornados and rain occur.

Wish us luck! Yes, we've rescheduled the Memorial Service to 9/27.

Oh Terri, I am soo sorry to hear that. That is hanging over your head. I hope the storm all of a sudden slows down speed and is just a rain shower?!!!! I don't know if that has ever happened but there is always a first!!! Thanks for the map Terry, it helps put things in perspective for me. I am going to contact you soon, because I want the matching Bracelet you put up on your site!!! I just need to measure!

I am really getting in the shower now, it is now or be late for work!!!

Terry~I am so sorry you had to reschedule the service. :rolleyes2:

We are going to Brenham (sp?). I know it is not THAT far but at least it is on the clean side of the storm. We are leaving late this evening (like the rest of the population). The traffic is going to be horrendous. I am so worried for everyone. I am worried for us too. I called my landlord and told her that if there was structural damage to our place that we want to be on the list for any places that she has availablle that has no damage. She said I am first on the list. So, at least that makes me feel better. The thought of a FEMA trailer makes me ill. I am getting way ahead of myself, aren't I? lol sorry! My mind is racing.

Terry-the map you posted on here is neat....thanks for doing that you talented little so and so!

Good afternoon, Violets.

I'm back from getting my new glasses and having lunch out with the Bobster. I LOVE the glasses. I can finally see clearly and they are so kewl in the sunshine. Lunch was ok. I had an artichoke baked bagel. It's a half a bagel with artihokes, olives, red peppers, mayo and cheese baked on top. I ended up PB'ing the first few bites, so took the topping off and ate only that. I also had two onion rings and brought the rest home.

Terry... thank you so much for the map. I'm sorry you had to postpone the memorial service, but it was a very wise decision.

TracyK.. you take care of yourself and your family, you hear! I'm going to be so worried about all three of you ladies and your families. It really sounds bad.

It's warmed up here a bit to........... don't laugh, PamELa, ..... 69 degrees. I'm headed to the pool in a few minutes. It's up to 82 in there so I can jump in and do some exercises. The sun is shining so it should be comfortable.

Hopefully it will be a nice evening so the Bobster and I can make a bonfire outside.

I had a craving for a Boston Cooler so I got some diet Vernors and some sugar free ice cream and made a couple for Bob and I. yummmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... The Bobster grew up in Detroit which is the home town of Vernor's Ginger Ale. Nothing like it, if you're from Michigan.

Laura.. are you going to ask what the sex of the baby is?? Daughter Kristin doesn't have her ultra sound til October and she doesn't want to know. (But gramma knows it's a boy! Mark my words. You read it here first.) I'm so excited for you. Sure does bring back memories!

Jane.. the weather has been very cool this summer. Very unusual. I usually don't have to worry about the furnace coming on til October, but it's come on once already and I have the thermostat set for 60 in the house. I'm hoping Indian Summer will happen next week or the week after. Then when that's done, it will be time to close up the pool for the winter. I hate thinking about that.. sighhhhhhhhh

I'm off to jump in the pool. Everyone have a great afternoon..

They can't tell the sex until 20 weeks, Russell & I actually fought about this last night--at the instigation of my mom. She always waited to find out, she likes surprises. I want to know ahead of time so I can buy girl stuff or boy stuff, and pick out names, etc. Mom told Russell she thinks waiting is more fun, so now he wants to wait. I decided I'll just not tell them, I'll find out and buy stuff and put it in a closet lol.

Talking about your new glasses is useless without PICS!!!

I thought that was kind of early. Kris is 16 weeks long right now. My doctor said finding out was like opening up your Christmas presents in July. I never did know and after adopting one boy and then giving birth to 2 boys, I was sooooooooo anxious for the last one to be a girl cause if it hadn't been, it might not have been the last one and who knows where I would have stopped!! :rolleyes2: But I never did find out until Krissy arrived.

Rain, rain, rain and more rain. But I'm not going to complain. I'm going to put all my energy into praying that my "T" Vi's are safe. I'm so scared for all of you and hope you all stay safe.

We got the garage done and I vaccummed out my car. Went to my staff meeting and than the grocery store. Just laying around catching up on some show I hav recorded.

9 more days till the meet-up with Jane and Tracy.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
