Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here

Recommended Posts

Good Morning Violets. For some reason I woke up at 5am. I laid in bed for a little while. Now I'm drinking my hot chocolate. It's 33 degrees out right now, only supposed to get to 47 today.

A new week, A new start.

When you were younger. What was the movies that scared you silly??

Mine, "The Omega Man". "The Crawling Eye" and "Them".

Jane, keeping you and your family in my prayers.

Good morning everyone-

I just stayed around here this weekend and cleaned and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

DH made PB Cookies last night and I ate 5 or 6 of those so now I have to bust my butt all week because I did not practice what I preach. I swear I must have a screw loose. :(

Jane-I will be thinking of you.

I need to get up and get macy ready for school. Mom is still hemming her jeans so she will just have to have cold legs for the next few mornings.

Have a great day everyone and try to do better than I did last night...make good choices today. I promise I will!

Good morning, Violets..

Ethan has arrived for the day so I have to keep this short for right now. Had a good eating day yesterday and got my hot tub exercises in last night. Hope to continue today so when I weigh in on Sunday I won't be disappointed. We go for a doctor's appointment on the 3rd and don't want to be the same as last time!

Everyone have a great day. Will check back later.

Prayers and puprle power to you today, Jane.

Oh and did you guys see Jennifer Hudson (American Idol/Dream Girls/etc)' mom & brother were killed the other day??

Yes, it is horrible! They still have not found her 7 year old nephew yet either.

Terry-Her mom and brother were found shot to death in their Chicago home. The 7 year old (Jennifers sisters son) is missing. Let me see if I can explain it without it being confusing...Jennifers sister was married (but separated) to the guy in custody for killing them. He was not the missing 7 year olds father, but was his step dad. There is a reward for the boy. I hope they find him alive!!

Then the other sad news is the anchorwoman in Arkansas died. She was found (by her mom) in her home beaten last week and there are no suspects. She died over this past weekend

Oh, that's absolutely horrible! Jeez, this is a crazy world. Everyone just needs to get themselves some VIOLETS and it would be a much better place.

Pammy - so glad you like the earrings! I liked 'em too. You tell me what colors you want and I'll get working on 'em .... you just pay me "whenever" ... no big deal at all.

Oddly, my desk is devoid of work this morning. Wish I was outside playing with my doggie instead. I wuv him a lot.

Tracy, if there had been Peanut Butter Cookies in my house last night I would have had 5-6 of them, too. I've been giving myself permission to eat all kinds of sugar lately! scale stays the same no matter WHAT I do....so WTF!!

Love you guys -- have a good morning!

Another crazy day for me... altho I do feel like the peak craziness has past w/the past 5 days and now we'll be on a downward crazy trend... @ least I hope so!!

Guess what!? Mo the cat is constipated again!! The vet should be here w/in the hour. STUPID CAT! Good thing dh is out of town or else Mo might be taking a loooooong (as in permanent) nap.

True confessions: if it wasn't for sugar, I wouldn't have eaten at all the past week! brownies, rice krispie treats, choc mousse, choc chip oatmeal Cookies, cookie dough ice cream cake, gorp... yes, I have eaten ALL THESE ITEMS (& probably more that I can't remember) over the past week!!!

Today I AM making GOOD choices!! Sipping my Protein Shake right now...

Actually CNN just sent me a breaking news, they found an SUV linked to the Jennifer Hudson case, with a child's body inside

They haven't confirmed it, but I'm sure it's the nephew.

Michelle, one of our coworkers mom just had hip surgery and has been compacted ever since (2 weeks I think it was), she ended up in the ER for them to 'dig' the poo out. I told them about your cat, they kind of looked at me like.. human vs. cat? Heh.. your cat was put to sleep at least wasn't it? Tis the season to be poop-congested I guess!

I heard about the anchorwoman too, it is a sad crazy world. And I am gaining weight at such a horrible rate, I hate myself, but I can't stop. I did have Russell hide the candy in the house, and I haven't looked for it.. but I am heating up caramels to make a caramel sauce, then just eating the sauce.. and I am still hungry 24/7. Nothing I can ignore, it may be head hunger, but my stomach aches and I am dying for food all the frickin time.

Pepperocinis! I've never ever liked them, Russell would eat them when we get them at pizza places or in salad at Olive Garden, I've tried a bite once in a while, and they're disgusting. Suddenly? I LOVE THEM. I made him go to this bar across the street that puts them in their salads and ask for an order of just pepperocinis.. and I ate them all in one sitting.. 7 of em. I love strong flavors right now, mmm.

That's gotta be the weirdest thing I have ever craved. They are nasty :/

And I don't know what to do about the band, I think it's working for the most part, but I'll eat till I PB.. I can't stop myself, what is wrong with me :(

Okay this board was weird last night and this morning. I couldn't post or anything. Got a phone call a little while ago that the court has been pushed back just a few hours so now I won't be leaving til 11.

Had wife swap on, just because last night I watch Army Wives so it was on lifetime. OH MY GOSH!!!!

I think Terry you are right, everyone needs a violet!!! I don't know what I would do without all the positive energy that we get from each other!!!

Have a good start of the week!!

Laura - If you're into pepperocini lately then you HAVE to try this extremely complicated recipe (see if you can follow along!):

1 pot roast

1 lg jar pepperocini

Throw in crock pot for 8 hrs on low.

OMG - It's sooooooooo good....we gobble it down. DH loves it on tortillas the next day, too.

Morning girls~

Quick check in for me as I head out the door. Jane I had problems last night too-I could create a post, but it would just sit there, would not post at all--totally pissed me off!!

Terry--we went for our ride yesterday, and as I come up to the front porch following the 200 miles.....I saw a box on the porch, and realized it must have been from Saturdays mail delivery! Sure enough it was something Rick ordered off of Ebay--but in the mail box were my earrings---I LOVE THEM!!!! I am wearing them today!!! I am taking Rick to the eye Dr in just a bit, and have on jeans, this simple eggshell colored tshirt and one of the new swingy sweaters that just button across the breast---the rest is open-----------also in eggshell, and my new denim colored earrings!!!! I even pulled my hair up to show them off!! I will get a check to you, I would have already, I just had no idea you would get them done so quickly! I am at home, and already had a compliment on them, Kinsey too loves them!! She said they are beautiful.

I will be thinking of you and sending you purple power today too Jane!! Lotsa Love headed your way!!

I gotta get---I need to pick up Rick in 30 minutes....then get across town to the eye place. He needs new glasses so bad, not so much the Rx change, as his are so scratched up!!!

Will check in when I get back and check up on the rest of you, and share my dream concerning TracyKS!!!

Huggles!!

Kat

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
