Yeah!!! I am getting new earrings! Thanks Terri!

I second what Kat said about a beautiful day yesterday! Today the alarm went off @ 5 as usual, and I laid there thinking, "what the hell is that???" LOL, I didn't even register that it was wakey wakey time! I am bushed. We have a contractor coming to give us a hard bid on a bathroom remodel. It requires moving a wall and building a big storage unit thingy in the closet. We now have a 1 sink SMALL vanity area where we both get ready. We just want a double sink and double vanity space. So...move the wall and there you go.

Have a great day everyone!

Hi girls!! I didn't want to get up this morning. I too was having bad dreams Janie but it was because I ate way way way too much yesterday.

Warning: food porn

For brunch I had chorizo and eggs, black Beans, pork green chile on the side, new potatoes and half a waffle.

For a late lunch we had frito pies, shaved ice, ice cream and some sugary nuts. (what awesome nutrition, huh?)

For dinner my sister made an italian feast. We had homemade lasagna, chicken alfredo, yummy salad, garlic bread. And then she made me a banana cake that was to die for. We had it with cinammon ice cream.

I'm on just Water today... LOL. I'm still stuffed. We stayed over at my mom's till about 1am because none of us could move off the couch...

But seriously I'm back on my excersise routine today. I made plans to meet my friend at the gym today and she said she would hold me accountable if I didn't keep up with my visits. She is a work out fanatic and goes like 6 days a week.

I brought my tuna salad with me today for lunch and for Breakfast I had two eggs and lean ham in a whole wheat wrap.

Morning V's, and happy day-late b'day Haydee!! What are you, 21 now???

We went to PF Chang's for my brother's birthday last night. I have never been there, and I like chinese, but apparently I do not like 'gourmet' chinese.

Ugh the food was horrible. Reminded me of Phuket, some fancy Thai restaurant we have.. not sure if that's a chain? I know PF Chang's is a chain.

It was all family style, we all got something different. I ordered something familiar-- sweet & sour pork. It was GROSS. I don't know how, but even the spinach & asparagus was nasty. Russell is allergic to seafood & peanuts.. and they cook everything in peanut oil. So his dish (and his dish only) they didn't cook in peanut oil, but he could not share anyone else's family dish--even the fried rice. He felt left out, despite the fact that I told him.. even the fried rice.. was disgusting. I actually had to SPIT IT OUT. Yeah, that bad! My brother & his gf reaked of weed when they came in, and his gf seemed to be on something.. not sure what, she sat next to me and talked 90-to-nothing but slurred and mumbled, but thought she was talking coherently. I just kept nodding and giggling at appropriate times when she laughed.

Uhm ok I guess that's it. I laid in bed all day Saturday and watched movies. Mrs. Pettigrew Lives Another Day--surprisingly cute movie. I liked it (I rented it out of desperation, I've seen everything else!). I also rented Brokeback Mountain, which I haven't watched yet.. and Baby Momma which was cute.

Laura and anyone else...

I just called a local pawn shop that buys broken jewelry........ they said $10 for pennyweight? what the heck does this mean and is that a rip off?

Hey Ladies,

Laura~OMG..you are gonna love Brokeback. The film is soooo beautiful, full of rich vivid colors and sceneries. The story takes my breath away...I sat in there and cried for an additional 10 min, and then in the car and smoked and cried some more. There is one scene at the end that if I think of...I'll cry now. You are not as "sappy" as I am...but I think it is a wonderful movie, very well done...and it left a lasting impression on me.

I had 2 PB's yesterday...one on an egg taco thingy I made in the morning, and one at the Chinese place we went to after the game. That one almost was ugly...barely made it to bathroom. Today I am gonna really try to baby it...once I get on a roll w/ the PB's they don't usually stop. I know it is cause of my big mouth, taking too much in.

When does Judy get back? Hasn't she been gone a month now?

Our 14 month old Maytag fridge is not working right...mo' money gonna be spent today for the repair man thats fo' shoow!

Tracy uhm.. my first thought, don't go to a pawnshop. They rip people off in general, that's not where I'd take my jewelry. $10 for any weight in gold doesn't sound right, but pennyweight is not a term I am familiar with.

I've never dealt with jewelry, just coins

how you been feeling laura? I've never heard of that mrs. pettigrew movie you mentioned. Did it ever hit theatres or is it like an indy film? 21? ha ha ha! I wish! But I don't feel 32 and that's what matters!

Is the price of gold still good? I've got a a few broken chains, some heavy and earrings in which I lost the partner. I might try it and see what they say it's worth...

Oh and I LOOOOVVEE PF Changs, but I don't think it's supposed to be authentic chinese food. They make everything really sweet but I still love it. My favorite is kung pao anything. The fried rice is usually good. I've had better at authentic chinese places. I like it really garlicky and with lots of egg... I better stop talking cuz I'm supposed to be GOOD today and i'm already craving chinese...LOL

PF CHang's is one of my favorite restaurants, too!! YUM. Once again, Laura.... you have very unique taste buds!

I can tell you a little about gold/value.

Today it's trading at $784.50/Troy oz.

There are 20 pennyweights/troy oz.

This website (GOLD PRICES | PRICE OF GOLD | GOLD MARKET | GOLD PRICES USA | CURRENT GOLD PRICES | JEWELRY PRICES) is paying $16.63 for 14K/pennyweight which is less than half of the bare market price for gold bouillon ($39.23/pennyweight)... but may be as good of a deal as you will find.

$784 /oz of gold is not as high as it has been recently.... I think it was pushing $1000/oz within the last few weeks.

Might want to hold onto it awhile longer....the value of gold and silver goes up as the economy goes south. If Obama gets elected, you can pretty much count on the economy going south! (Sorry-- it's just the truth.)

I am feeling much better with my back! It only aches slightly when I bend, but nothing even worth mentioning.

The Mrs. Pettigrew, I'm not sure.. I just saw it on Amazon.com for movie downloads. It's set in the 30's in London, it's a dark comedy..came out in 2008.

I'm shocked about PF Chang's, I even looked around wondering how anyone could eat there!! Maybe my taste buds are weird! I went home and had a chili cheese dog with lots of onions. Gold goes up & down all the time, I sold a gold coin right after our wedding.. 1 troy oz was $860 then.

The only reason I know anything about this stuff is because of my alzheimer/dementia granny. Her partner/room mate guy died last year and he had brain tumors and thought all these crazy conspiracies (he thought the cartoon Pinkie & The Brain was a sign from the government about their plans). Anyway, he didn't trust banks so he invested all of his money in gold & silver.. and then hid it all over the yard, in walls, etc. So when he died we did a treasure hunt. Found over 100k in gold coins, and I don't think we even found it all. So now my granny-- who took over his paranoia and is afraid of banks.. hauls around huge bags of gold--that she can't pick up... from pawn shop to pawn shop to get quotes.. and then she obsessed with the ticker on the TV that shows gold prices. She will call at random times to ask "Should I sell now?".. yet she's never sold a single piece since she came into all this gold. I am certain one of these days she is going to get mugged walking out of the pawnshops with her big bags.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
