"Do Not seek the treasure"

That is from one of my all time favorite movies.

Oh, Brother. Where art thou.

Love, Love, Love, that movie. George Clooney was a hoot.

Ugh. 4 hours there & back. In the rain. I treated myself to a SB for lunch as a, well, treat. A new fav concoction is a sugar-free caramel macchiato w/soy. Mmmmmmmmm.

I love "Out of Africa" (man did I cry when Meryl learns that Robert dies! + all her other woes...). Of the movies listed, I'd say Steel Magnolias... again, such a tear jerker!... when Shirley Mc is screaming @ the nurses to give her daughter the shot... that + when DW says goodbye to her sons... ugh.

What about comedies?? I'm looking forward to the new one coming out this weekend, "Burn After Reading" w/George Clooney (I wouldn't kick HIM out of bed!), Brad Pitt, Frances McDormand (sp?)... those Cohen Bros. films are always so quirky! It may be the first non-kid film I've seen in a looooong time!!

Got to get back to work... ttfn!

Movies in theaters have sucked lately.. I'm really disappointed in them.

I'm going to see House Bunny tonight I think with my music buddy..we always go see goofy movies.

I won't even go into the meeting today, I have been blowing up for an hour with everyone here talking about how ridiculous these women are, I think I even said "THEY NEED TO GET LAID!!!". Tee-hee.

I'm letting it go though!

Do any of you have thoughts on getting a low profile port? I don't know if I'm not 'there' yet, or.. maybe it's the location.. My doc always said, when I got to goal, they'd trade out my port for a low-profile port. I don't think I even had a comment on it, didn't care at the time. When they revised my port, and moved it to my chest.. he made a note to tell my mom, it's going to be obvious-I will be able to feel it, so he'll do a low-profile port when I get to goal. I still didn't think anything of it. I see people on the boards talking about wanting them.

Mine is completely feelable.. I can feel the entire thing, I showed ya'll! But it doesn't bother me at all. It doesn't hurt, and if anything, I like to play with it when I'm laying in bed at night sometimes (don't be dirty, it just entertains me!).

So I don't know why I'd do another surgery for a low-profile port. Only person going to be touching me there is me & DH.. and he doesn't care, he's use to it by now.

I think on some people it shows, and if you have the option why not.. just as long as they don't SCREW ANYTHING UP!!!!!

I'm like you laura.. I play with mine all the time, kind of comforting in a weird way, but then again I always grab my belly flap and pull on it too!!!! I'm WIERD.

Nope, I play with my poor pannis too. I hold it up and away and imagine what I'd look like if I had it cut off. More and more, I realize it's skin that will have to be removed. It's pathetically deflated.

Evening, Violets..

Had a great day today with the other pastor's spouses. I had a Maurice salad for lunch.. could only eat a few bites and then was full. Had a Boston Cooler for a treat and am now eating a little bit of left over pot roast. A few bites of that and I'm stuffed. We walked a lot today so that's a good thing. I bought a couple of new watches, a ring and a couple of blouses so it was a successful trip.

Kat.. Ethan doesn't like the swimming pool. He'd rather go in the hot tub. Course now that the Water is warm, maybe he'd like it better in the pool. I didn't turn the heater on today cause I knew I wouldn't have any time to swim. Hopefully tomorrow and definitely Thursday.

Gotta run and get ready for my singing rehearsal tonight. Only one more rehearsal after this one and then the concert!!

Everyone have a great evening..

I had McDonalds for the first time in over a year hah.

I got the McRib, I had to try it. 1/2 way through I did a major PB/vomit and up it all came. Was fun while it lasted..

Got my fill of McDonald's for the year, forgot how nasty that place was.

Oh and get this, one of the newer sales persons, the one I told ya'll about last week that is hungry for work, but turned down taking that local account from me..

Well today CEO told me he wants to give one of my customers (albeit, NOT a big customer, but still money is money) to her. I just gave him a look and he starts talking about something unrelated. He asked what my look was about, so I said.. they aren't a big customer, but they are a steady customer and that's money directly out of my pocket.. why would you just give my account away??? And he tells me something (that made no sense).. I corrected him, and so he's not taking it from me. I ask, where did this even come from-why would this come across your desk?? He said SHE brought it up. Without details, SHE lied about some scenerio, which is why she should get it. A complete bold face lie--and she knows it was a lie. So I talked to her supervisor, about me confronting her on it. I said, I'm going to count to 10.. but I feel I am in every right to call her out on 1. going behind my back to STEAL a customer I've had for years 2. Blatantly lying about it to steal it.--not even coming to me, but going over my head to come up with this scheme.

She agreed, I should confront her on it. I'm going to think about it tonight, and write her a polite but pointedly haughty e-mail tomorrow.

She messed with the wrong girl.

I am home again......think I have all the components I need to transform the color scheme in the bedroom now!!

I have a project to do for the wall. I bought a new shadow box frame, and I am going to put some of our motorcycle trip pictures, and rally pins and ticket stubs to concerts (I gather these in the frame all around the mirror....it is FULL!), and Rick just retired his old set of black leather gloves, the corner of his hand where he clutches is wore through as is one of the finger tips. So I am going to collage all that into a frame for the wall----we have soooo much memorabilia from our bike trips it will be hard to choose what to go in, but it will be a fun piece. And it will go on the wall next to Rick's side of the bed. Got the dust ruffle to go with my new quilt, clearanced for $3.50!!! I love sales!!

Never did eat Breakfast, had some fish for lunch at Captain D's with my DIL and grandkids. Shared a lunch special with Kinsey. Not going to mess much with dinner, will likely open a can of Soup or something....maybe toss a potpie in the microwave or something lazy like!!!

Got my FIL's hair cut! Talked to Rick for awhile, there were a bunch of guys in the background giving he and Tyson a hard time for not wanting to go to the Titty Bar.......they were razzing him and saying "Tell Mama you are going, you're the man of the house!!!" Finally shut them up when he told them, they just didn't get it, he was a lot older than them, and those girls dancing were his Daughters ages, and he didn't care to see that and think of them being someones daughters!!! They eventually left and we chatted peacefully!!!

Suzanne, thanks for the support for Manda. She was just soooo upset, and it is hard when something affects my kids that hard not to worry for them. If she had tried to dodge fault or something I could have been hard nosed, but she wasn't doing that, just terribly upset to suddenly be in the hole that much!

Well I am off to Water tomatoes.....anyone want some 'maters??? Kinsey calls them 'maters. I cannot eat them, and they are coming out my ears, and I did not plant anything else to make salsa.....maybe I'll think of someone I don't like and go throw them!! LOL

See y'all later!

Kat

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
