Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here

Good Morning, Violets..

Chilly here today. It's 35 and I have a new spring outfit to wear to church... arghhhhhh Oh well, I'll just grit my teeth and hope I stay warm cause I'm not giving up the outfit. Just got it yesterday in the mail form Silhouettes and it's so pretty. It's a linen skirt with a matching crochet jacket. I be stylin' today!

We're going out for lunch after church and then Ethan is coming over so I can watch him while the Bobster, DD, DS and DSIL can go golfing. I wanted to go to a musical program at the library, but I'll take Ethan any chance I can get.

I didn't weigh this morning cause I know I've made some bad choices this week. I'll just wait til we go to the docs on the 12th of May. I don't think I'll be getting another fill cause I have good restriction with this one. I just need to keep making wise choices my priority along with exercise.

I got a trikke a couple of years ago and have not been able to use it. I'm going to take it out this week and give it a whirl. Someone on the before and after thread has a picture of her riding hers and I messaged her for tips. She really loves hers so I hope to get the same joy out of mine now that I'm 63# lighter than the last time I tried it.

Anybody get one of those ab rockets??? I got one off ebay and should have it his week. DS is taking my ab lounger. It just takes up too much space in my small house. The ab rocket is much more compact.

Time to get dressed and fix my hair and make up for church. Everyone have a relaxing morning and a great day. Make wise choices (I am trying!!!!) and drink, drink, drink!!

Morning gals

well, here is a huge accomplishment, I worked last night and still weigh the same as yesterday and feel a little swollen. I will confess, I did go have a couple drinks with my freind from work, OMG what fun we had, but I was already swollen when I left work, so when I got home, I drank my warm lemon Water, which I had to pee forever in the middle of the night but seemed to do the trick. I feel puffy but look normal so I think I got it figured out.

I came home to 2 more work emails, this job is going to be fantastic but take lots of time. I'm just so happy

Any

Happy Bandiversary Denise & Tracy

Denise, so nice to hear from you, how are the girls and the house?

Pama- Oh... Poor baby, his ears sound so sore

Judy - it is chilly here this mornng too, I guess summer is gone lol

Good Morning,

I won't go into all the details of what I have been thru in the last few days. I'll spare you the details. Just take my word for it that it's been a ride. One good thing is I still have my im hair intact.

Friday my neighbor and I went over to church for their annual flowersale and I got my plants. They are still sitting in the garage. Waiting for the chillo get out of here before I bring them out. Is the warm weather ever going to get here and stay?

Should be getting our fencing material this week. We have the kids from the youth group at church coming this Saturday to help dig post holes.

Am I the only one not going on the trip? Hate to think I won't have anyone to chat with while you guys are having so much fun. You guys are so lucky. I wish you the best time.

Everyone have a great day.

Suzie - Sorry you're having a rough time. I can't imagine all you're going thru. There's a special place in Heaven for you...don't forget that! XOXO

Suzie, big hug!!

Tracy, that is amazing your picture and story!! I am glad you sent a link cause I have trouble finding that. I printed out the year thing and what you said. I need to learn from you, you have done great and have a great gift of words. No wonder you were picked for Las Vegas!!

Tracy and Pam, I almost forgot about that!!! I just really hope that Adam doesn't win!!

Well I feel better, my fever broke last night, don't know what it was, odd. I still have really bad reflux, I have moved to the couch the past two nights. I think I will call my regular Dr. tomorrow.

My neices kids birthday party is today, we are going to this park that has a carousel. It should be fun. If this was after Gruene, I could post a picture, but since Judy (THank you) hasn't showed me yet...

Okay have a great day everyone!!

Well, I think I told you all about the hummingbird that built her nest about 10 feet from Klaus our Rottie??? Well, you guessed it...dead hummingbird this morning, and an empty nest:mad::huh2:. Susanne was pissed, but I am not completely sure he killed her. If so, why didn't he eat her (he EATS EVERYTHING). So...kinda sad and pissy around here today!

Terry---your jewerly is beautiful, I love the design on the birds wing.....you do wonderful work!

Pamela---rather than the vets, try going to a feed store for some fly repellant, and if you cannot get it FOR him----try fly traps around him. We use spray, and also powder for the cows. This sounds so gross--but when they get to the ear, like they are now, the ear tissue itself allows the powder to adhere....

Ya know he may be a hummingbird killer, but you DO have to treat him humanely anyway!!! (j/k) We have a tube----you can buy themin different sizes, we use across the fence gate between the field and the barn--it is filled with fly powder, you hang it low, so they bump it, and self medicate as they walk under it to get back and forth. Might look and see if you could do something similar with fly powder in a tube sock or something across the door of his dog house, then his ear would receive a bit each time he went back and forth.....

I have stuffed jalapenos cooking, and they smell sooooo good!!!! I better go check them.

BBL~~

Good early evening, Violets..

turned out to be kind of a lazy day here today. After church we went to see our boat. DSIL's dad did the gutting and redoing of it and it looks awesome!! I bought it for $2,600 on ebay and he said someone offered him $4,000 for it. Way kewl. I told him we'd sell it, I'd get another on ebay and he could redo that one! He was not impressed. He is newly retired and his wife thanked us for getting him out of the house!! :) Now we have to get a hitch for my car so we can haul the boat to the lakes around here and get some fishing in!! I can't imagine when the boat would have been done if we had been doing all the work. Just no time, not to mention we wouldn't know what we were doing! I was totally thrilled with the result considering he is not a professional at boat restoration.

Ethan didn't come over today. DS didn't go golfing so DD and I went shopping while the Bobster and DSIL shot 9 holes. It was fun trying on clothes and shoes, but I didn't buy anything for me... just some shirts for the Bobster. I have plenty of clothes and need to purge another closet soon. We're having a garage sale the week before Kris and I go cruising. It'll give us a little extra spending money.

When Kris and I got home from shopping, I decided to have a few kettle chips. They went down smooth, but then BAM, they were stuck and I pb'd 5 times. Note to self. Do NOT eat kettle chips no matter how crunchy and yummy they are. Kris just shakes her head when I head to the bathroom now.

I made spinach pie yesterday so we'll have the leftovers for supper tonight. That will go down smoothly.

Going to do a few loads of laundry before settling in for the night. BBL...

Terry.. the jewelry is gorgeous!! You do great work.

Pam....How the heck can a Rottie kill a hummingbird without it ending up being unrecognizable???? I might not want to know the answer to that one..

Suzie....Hugs to you and hope things get better soon.

Tracy...hope your parents had a great time on the cruise. I really think we Violets should plan a cruise together for our next trip. (after we see how well we do on this trip!)

Hmmmm, I never have problems with kettle chips, BUT, that is a problem right there. Just need to stay away from them all together.

It turned out to be a gorgeous day here. Spring day and it's beautiful. Went and took lunch to my sis in the hospital and watched tv till she fell asleep. Came home and took the neighborhood kids to the park and walked doggie. We had such a good time. I decided to take them to Sheridan's for some frozen yogurt. Yummmy.

Hope you all have had a good day.

It is really cold here and rainy, so Suzie here is hoping we get your weather tomorrow!! Off to Walmart, I am on a serious shoe hunt, and saw somebody today with shoes on like I want, I asked where she got them, she said Wal Mart!! I don't think I have ever been to see their shoes. I actually don't like going to Walmart, too crowded and too many people slapping and hollering at their kids around. I go there occasionally, but it is generally too much for me to handle.

TracyK why is there a + sign after your name?

Have a good night!!

Suzanne----girl you never cease to amaze me! You have so much going on, yet you find time and energy to take neighborhood kids to the park! You are very special!!! I so wish you were going to TX with us. I know your plate is heaping and overflowing right now-----and flying is an issue....but I really wish you could be there!!!

Jane, Tracy gets a + because she is on your friends list.....I am lazy and have not sent invites out!!! LOL

It is beautiful here, although a chill in the air. Rick and our son and Gary went riding, I thought about hitting the barn, and chose instead to just stay home, and try to get our house back in order, and ready for the week ahead. Kinsey is back tomorrow, and will be here late, Manda has a training program, if she can handle it---it will require sitting, and she is having problems sitting....so who knows! Then Tuesday she goes to Albq. to the cardio. Hoping to get some answers. Anyway, it is looking like a busy week, so I wanted to get laundry done etc. With the yard sale nothing got done, just messed up over the last couple of days! It is all back to order now, just finishing up laundry, and prepping to grill some chicken.< /strong>

Will check in later, off to fold some sheets.....will the fun never end????

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
