Morning~

Did not sleep well at all! Went to bed with a headache, and Rick is all stuffy headed so he was snoring like crazy---finally got to sleep about midnight, and woke up--wide awake like it was time to get up at 3 AM!!! Was awake til 4:30 or so, then sacked out hard---------just in time for the alarm at 5! Finally drug out of bed, just as Rick was leaving at 5:30-----Kinsey got here, wide awake at 6----------and I am still just draggin' my butt around! I have laundry to do, lots of things I want to accomplish today before Rick goes on his 4 days off---------but cannot get it together!

We are going to Albq. on Sat. to a big motorcycle show, and a human body exhibit I want to see--done with real preserved human bodies. Manda saw it in Vegas, said it was totally cool, but she is my child who was totally serious about wanting to be a forensic pathologist....actually sat in on several embalmings, and an autopsy----not me!!! She may have pursued it further if her experiences with her nursing had been of a different nature. But now the oilfield money has her locked in!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JENN!!!! Do not let him spoil your day--it gives him WAY to much power---and that is YOUR power. Remember this is YOUR year!!! You laid claim to it, just as you laid claim to your job. He has no more power than you give him...... As sad as it is, he is no longer the man he could have been before the accident--and you deserve better. You did not cause his accident, and you are not responsible for being his punching bag---or the one he dumps all the frustration on....he needs some help, and is obviously not willing at this time to get it. Move on, let him move on as well--maybe that will be his impetus to get the help---and if he does.....who knows what the future could hold? But the way it is now, it is like a looped tape, you get your hopes up that he is "coming back" as the guy he was before the accident, and he disappoints you every time. You and your kids deserve to be able to count on someone...and he has proven to you time and time again that he cannot be counted on. I would imagine he is struggling as well, I watched my brother do it--and when he would see short comings in himself---------watch out, he would get into a bad mood, upset by it, and all hell would break loose! He would say cruel things, and act out in ways totally abnormal for him. Brain injuries do that. Do I wish I had the brother back from before? Of course! I am positive he wishes it too----but HE made the decision he did to get in the car with a drunk driver. Just as your bf made the decision to ride with no helmet.....now he has to find his way in his new world...it is NOT your lot in life to lead him, and be beat up (figuratively) along the way. Just as some think it is cruel to make a blind person learn to navigate on their own, in his case, he needs to find his way without you as his fall guy----you will both end up better people for it.

OK----------off my brain injury soap box!! Now Girl---go celebrate!!!

Pamela----sorry your test was a yucky one----hope everything gets the go ahead for the ablation.....isn't that the plan?

And you can call me anytime too----Any of you can!

Well----the laundry is not gonna sort itself----guess I should go get it started---so I can get it finished. Anyone wanna pay my bills for me? That's another task I need to finish today!

BBL~

Kat

Morning V's!

We went to some Beatles tribute band last night, was out till 11pm and then we went to Waffle House and talked for a while, so we were home late!

It's kicking my butt this morning, I'm sick as it is, my sinuses ache so bad.. my neck hurts.

Hah hah I actually didn't get what Terry was saying.. woops. But I second Pam, the best way to get over a man is to get on top of a new one!

I don't know that Chantix made me scatter brained, I'm pretty thorough at work and did not notice it slip. The only issue (besides weight gain) was the night terror things. I was waking up all throughout the night freaking out from nightmares. Too scared to get up and turn on the tv or light, I would sit there staring at DH and mad he didn't wake me up (it wasn't logical).

LOL Judy...you so funny!

Kat~ I love love loved that Human Body Exhibit in Vegas. It was the highlight of my trip. Just a few weeks ago, 20/20 or Dateline did a show on the exhibit. All of the bodies are undeniably (sp) Asain, and young. I guess the bodies come from a prison camp. You could google it for more infor. I am not sure where they came from, but I loved the exhibit. It is very explicit.

OK...got a ton of work to do on my prep. Every day, I get 55 min to "prep" for the kids. I don't need that much time, and ususally go to LBT. Naughty Naughty!

During my wedding trip in vegas, my sister & her gf went to the human body exhibit. She said it was awesome, I couldn't get DH to go with me, I really wanted to see it. WAAH!!

Terry! I meant to tell you, work gave me a vacation check, for unused vacation hours last year (I dunno how that happened between surgery & wedding?!).. normally they direct deposit, but some reason they gave me a check.. I've been carrying it around for over a week, but today I am going to use my lunch break to go deposit it, then write you a check for the full amount. I will be PAID IN FULL! YAY! Then I can just take money out for the trip to shop shop shop...and drink margies?

Yeah they just did a piece on this human body exhibit---it is a big thing! Supposed to be unclaimed bodies they say---and now they will have releases from either the donating family or from the ME stating it is an unclaimed body from now on! Dunno about any of that, but I am looking forward to going!

Rick is looking forward to the bike show---it always costs me, he finds new chrome or something!!! Actually this year, I want a new drink holder for my seat!!! ME! ME! ME!

Laundry is ready to change! See I DID go do something....I have 1 load of clean clothes, and a bubbly clean granddaughter as well!!

BBL~~

Kat, I loved the story of your trip to Mexicali and about your grandmother. I do believe in Angels and I think you had found one. How special that you were directed in the right way. Speaking of that story, I ran to wal-mart after work this morning and I was dragging 2 carts out to my car. I got to where I was going to open the trunk and I looked down and there was a penny on the ground. I immediately thought of you and than looked again and there was another penny and another penny and more and more. I actually bent over and picked up all of them and put tham in my pocket. When I got home I emptied them out and counted them, there was fifty nine pennies. Not sure what that means but I'll pass my luck around.

Back in the early 70's my brother was playing in a tournament and it was held in Caliexico. So off we went and stayed with some people in Mexicali. All I remember was how hot it was. It was so hot that theu didn't start the ballgames till midnight. The second games were at 3am. Even with that it was still in the high 90's. We spent aout 4 days there.

Hope you have a great day

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

    • LeighaTR

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
