Tracy- congrats on the 2 pounds. You are doing awesome. It must be so hard being so close to goal. Good Luck and hang in there.

Kat- I too am struggling with the excess skin problem. But I still need to lose some more weight before I can even think about surgery. What I hate is when I get up in the morning and come out from my bedroom and I'm walking down the hallway and everything is swinging back and forth. I just have my night gown on and there is no support. So as I walk it just swings. Boobies and belly. I agree with you that I hate what my body has become but not as much as what my body was. I would rather live the rest of my life looking like this than what I looked like a year ago. I'm going to give it another year and than I will look into what my insurance covers. If they don't than maybe I need to look at a job to help pay for it. I told my hubby when he asked if I has geting my boobs done. That by the time I get thru with all of the surgery they are going to look like an eighteen year olds. He can't hardly wait. Remember that we are more critical of our bodys. Our familys might see it but they love us for WHO we are and not what we look like. Hugs to you girlfriend.

Started my Water allready. I have a Dr.s appointment tomorrow and still try to get off as much weight as I can.

Everyone have a great Super Bowl day. Watch the junk. And.......................

GO Giants.

Morning Violets~

Happy Early Birthday Laura!

Jenn~ Your post made me cry. What a magical night you had. I was an undergrad when mom was taking care of grandma, but I know it was hard on her. As far as your aunt goes, my opinion is to let her have her way on as many issues as possible, and then on IMPORTANT issues to you and your mom, fight her on it. In short, pick your battles. There is gonna be enough stress for you both, and the focus should be on healthy grieving...not bullshit family battles. xoxoxox Hang tough.

Well, the Superbowl party is off. Had a few people cancel, and frankly, I regretted even saying I'd have it. I have 1 more call to make, and she was only coming for the margaritas. I have too much to do today. I gave away tons of pants and now...I need a couple pair. I also need to go to Wally World. Pack and lastly, I need to grade a boat load of papers. I've been a bad teacher this week, and am behind! So I'll be watching the game, and waiting for my boyfriend Justin Timberlake's commercial, but I don't need to cook a boat load of food! Yeah!

Have a great day everyone!

xoxoxoxoxooxox

I am thankful that you all are in my life!

TracyK~ You thought I've forgotten you! You are rockin that weight loss honey! I am (we all are) sooooo proud of you. If you reach goal first...you will be the resident Violet Skinny Biotch! It is a very distinguished honor! I think there is a special hat too! 10 to go...OMG! Rock on!

OMG...what a stressful morning!

I had to call 911 for dh. He was sitting on the couch with a fever and said he did not feel right. He got up to go to the bathroom and I went to the doorway of our bedroom to listen to see if he was vomiting, then I heard him hit the floor! I ran in there and started slapping him in the face and hollering his name. He woke up and asked what happened. He was in a cold sweat and was pale as a ghost. He got up and I was trying to help him about 4 steps to the bed and he stopped in the doorway of the bathroom and started falling backwards (on top of me). He passed out again and I was able to hold onto that dead weight and keep his head from hitting the floor. I ran to call 911 and to make a long story short, he is dehydrated and we decided for him to stay here and keep an eye on him and keep him drinking. His EKG was OK and as long as he is lying down his BP is OK.

I have never been so scared in my life!!!!! Please say some prayers for dh (Frank)

OMG Tracy----how scary for you--where was Macy, did she witness all of it? Your entire family is in my prayers, that you will ALL be healthy soon!

Great job on the weight---Pamela is right, we are SO proud of you!

We spent the morning at the farm, fighting the newest disaster to hit out there. The lean-to, attatched to the garage (which my FIL has filled wall to wall, and floor to rafter with junk-----collapsed from the weight of the snow and ice, right on top of our truck!

It is built out of wood, and the wood splintered and broke, and dropped it on top of our truck (F250). We were under it, holding our breath and praying! Jacked it up, braced it---managed to get the truck backed out---raked a couple of top lights off, and dented the roof....but managed to get it out, then braced some more, and left it. Looks like when it clears up (it is snowing yet again!) we will either rebuild it, or demolish it and go up with a metal carport. We have our welder, and the 4 wheelers under there, as well as our truck. His Dad also keeps his riding lawn mower, and yet more of his junk under it as well.

Scary, I was afraid it was collapsing on us! At one point Rick was jacking the center the worst of it up, with a 2X4, with a 2X8 crossed over the top to support it, and the jack began sliding on the ice, so we knew it was going to drop sudden and hard, he screamed at me to run----and he damn near ran me over with us getting out, it creaked and broke a few more boards, but remained hanging. The added weight of the current snow might just do 'er in. I am beyond caring. We pour money into that place----and yes we may well end up living out there, and our son does now, but a little help since we are not the only ones involved would be nice. Where the new carport we will have to buy will be, is not land we will inherit, his sister will get it-------but since she does not use it now, is not interested in helping....big suprise!

Oh well!

We will be heading out to our Super Bowl party soon. I have pulled pork bq ready for sandwiches, and a crock pot full of queso, with all the dippers.

We spent the evening last night at Manda and Ryans with them, Becky & Gary, and Ryans Mom, played some Texas Hold 'em, and various other poker games, and laughed until I cried over silly things----Ryan and his Mom had me rolling in the floor!

Kinsey tells us "I wish Nana and Papa would come over. And Uncle Wobert--then everybody would be here and I would be so happy". We told her they were home in front of the fire, they didn't want to be out in the snow....and she thinks about it and tells us "OK I think I will be happy anyway"......crazy kid! She got my tea----and helped me drink it, I took the next drink and she had backwashed broccoli in my tea----little beast! Everyone decided that was love, not gagging and carrying on!

Man it is snowing hard! Kinda scares me, there will be lots of drunks on the road in bad weather tonight. Good thing we don't have far to go. Son is stuck in ND----flights all over the place cancelled and delayed, they tell him it will likley be Tuesday.

Well I am going to go get me something else to drink----will at least get that in, even if my eating does leave something to be desired today.

Hugs to you today Jen, as you face your loss. Tracy hope DH improves, Judy thanks for the support of understanding with Rick's folks! Pamela, don't work too hard grading papers. Haydee, Jane, Laura---all of you--I cannot scroll any further to keep up-and I am brain deprived!!! Have a safe and SUPER day!!

Kat

Good afternoon, Violets...

Back from church.. am into my jeans and sweatshirt and the meatballs are done and the pineapple glazed spareribs are warming. We'll be off to DD's house soon so we can watch the end of the Piston's game on their new 60" HDTV. Then we'll eat before the Super Bowl. Almost 2 p.m. here and I've been good again today eating wise. There was a pancake Breakfast after church today and I just went up to the Fellowship hall and visited. didn't have a bite. Came home and had one mini-meatball to make sure it was tasty and then had my cup of sauage corn chowder. Had a cube of pork to make sure that was ok and that's it until this evening.

I got lots of compliments on my flute playing today. It was celtic music with flute and harpsichord.

TracyK!! How scary! Prayers for a quick recovery for Frank. Keep pumping those fluids into him!! And when he needs to get up make sure it's very slowly...we don't want him passing out again. and CONGRATS on getting soooooooo close to goal. We need new bracelets, Terri!! They need to say WWTD?? We're so proud of you, our first Violet at goal!! That's got to feel so awesome.

Kat....yikes!! What is it with today?? Everyone under a dark cloud or sumfin?? You be careful, woman!! We're supposed to get freezing rain on Tuesday and Wednesday. A lot of snow is melting today with it finally getting up past freezing.

Thanks everyone. I have to admit, I am very scared about being close to goal. I guess because it is unchartered territory for me. I have been fat my whole life, so I am scared.

DH is doing a little better. I am making sure he is drinking alot and his temp has gone down (for now)

Thanks for the prayers & well wishes! I love ya'll!

Tracy----it may make him cough, but when you make him drink--also make sure he takes a few deep breaths--several in a row. It will wierdly help keep his temp down---but also help to avoid the possibility of pneumonia following the flu---which is not uncommon! And when he gets up--yes very slowly--but make sure he DOES get up! He needs to keep moving, even though he may not have to get up to go potty as he is not taking in much, and burning most of it off with fever. Just don't forget the things he wants to avoid with this....preventative measures. Poor guy!

Someday I will know about being afraid to be at goal--I hope I am young enough to remember what being afraid feels like, I am afraid at the rate I am going I will be 100+ when I hit goal!!! LOL!

Kat-as far as you asking where macy was when it happened....she was in the living room watching TV. When she saw me sprint through the house to get my phone she got up and came in the bathroom and said, "momma, what is daddy doing laying on the floor?". I just told her that he was sick and the dr was coming over to make him better.

Tracy, So glad to hear he's feeling better. I can't imagine the stress you were having not knowing what was happening and trying to do your best. You deserve a stiff drink for that one. And a long nights rest. Do make sure he walks around every now and then. Don't let it settle in his lungs. Take care of both of you.

Working on my fourth round of 20 ounces of Water. Haven't even started any of the cooking so I'm doing good food wise. Can it be bad to have to much yogurt in one day? I've had 2 yoplaits already and was just wondering.

I'll check in later.

Tracy...OMG...I hope Frank feels better soon. If he is not drinking enough Water, tell him you will give Susie his email. She'll make sure he is never dehydrated again! PURPLE POWER for Frank.

Susanne is on the road in 80mph winds...trying to inch over to Orange County. I am finally home and ready to grade papers (3pm). I went and bought 3 new pair of pants 1 blue jeans, 1 black jeans and 1 black chino. They are all size 22...which is a far cry from my skinny violet sisters...but, it is a far cry from the 28/30 I started in! At least they fit, and I won't look like a bag lady anymore.

OK...everyone have a great afternoon! Gonna watch the game, grade some papers, and say prays until Susanne calls and tells me she is home.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
