Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here

Recommended Posts

Good evening everyone!

I have waxed my upper lip with no issues. I use to use the electric razor on it as well.

Well - I just got caught up on posts - so I missed the being good on Saturday.

Saturday I experimentated with a recipe to dupilcate Starbuck's Lemon Loaf cake -- It was a success! I had to have some to ensure it was a success.

Sunday we had our neighbor from our old neighborhood over and made Ribs on the grill; beans; coleslaw with Lemon Loaf for dessert.

Then for Superbowl - took a double chocolate fudge cake with fudge icing to Celebrate our friends son's 23rd birthday. I had 5 little smokies and cake and ice cream.

Today has been better - just some ice cream and cool whip this evening.

I am traveling the next 3 days - so I will try to be good to make=up for all the bad.

My prayers go out to all of you for your families in need.

Hugs everyone!

I forgot to share my NSV -- the Birthday boy - Adam, he has been over to the house a few times a week recently - and I am always in my old (baggy) sweats, wearing 4 or 5 shirts/sweatshirts (I am always cold).

I wore black jeans and black/white shirt there and it was warm enough that I didn't have a jacket on -- and when I got out of the car- he exclaimed OMG look at you -- you have lost A LOT of weight - and I said yes I have - he's like no I mean A LOT OF WEIGHT -- you look absolutely wonderful -- giving me a big bear hug! :)

whooo hooo!

Woooo Hooooo, Gina!! You look AWESOME!! You're a new person! Congrats to you!!!

Just got off the phone with Nathan. He was telling me about the accident. He said he felt like he was in the middle of a video game. Luckily he made the right choices. He got caught in slush and couldn't get the car to stop sliding so he jammed the wheel to the left so that he wouldn't hit the plow head on. It Tboned him instead. Blew out the side windows, broke the axle off and blew out the tires. He cut his hand on the broken glass crawling out the passenger side window, but that was the only injury, thank God! He knew the guy that hit him (helps being from a small town!) and that guy was really rattled thinking he had killed Nathan! Soooooooo now Nathan has to look for a new vehicle. He had been looking for a truck, but had been putting it off and putting it off. Well, no more putting it off! he wanted to know if we wanted to buy his new TV.. They spent over $3,000 on a 60" one. Luckily he's a PA and makes excellent money, but reality is beginning to hit home as far as expenses coming at inconvenient times!

Well, it's been another great day foodwise. One day at a time. I did 5 miles on the exercise bike and 15 minutes on the glider. No hot tub tonight cause it's snowing so hard.

Everyone have a great evening. sleep well and stay safe!

Gina you look fantastic!!!!

Judy- Funny you said that, my mom actually has STRICT orders that if she's ever in the hospital from a coma or something, we have to pluck some chin hairs of hers.. she said my dad's never seen them and it would kill her lol. And under-eye concealer.

Kat- Thank you for the card!! It was so beautiful, and what's interesting is that fairy artist is actually one I collect! I have several art books of hers, posters, and I even collect her greeting cards.. and I've never seen the one you gave me, so that's awesome!!!! You girls are so sweet :)

DH is getting sick, I knew it would happen. I decided I have the flu, and you can't avoid the flu!! He feels like poo tonight, I said.. wait till tomorrow. I thought I felt bad Wed. when I went home from work early, by Thurs I thought I was gonna die!!

But look what he got me for my b'day :wink2: It's a sapphire & diamond Bracelet. I love it! And my attention whore (I use this literally) cat thought my hand pose was an invitation for loving.

And just so I can point this out.. NSV.. I could never wear women's bracelets or watches, the entire part of my life that I would ever want to.

It was Dec. that I realized I could, so for the first time in my life I wanted somethin snazzy on my wrist!! It's 7", and it's SNUG, but it does close and it's not cutting of circulation lol. I think 1/8" more would be better, but I'm confident I'll lose just a little bit more wrist in the next 60lbs, so it'll fit perfectly soon.

I made DUCK tonight for dinner. Finally found some at the Publix down the road. I was nervous, didn't smell so hot when cooking. But me and DH both really liked it, I'll be making duck again!!

Laura, glad the card was something you enjoyed, and hope you have a wonderful birthday---the Bracelet is gorgeous!! My hands and wrists were the first area I lost---I was so irritated---I wanted to lose weight on my body, and instead my fingers got skinny!!! LOL

Hope your DH recovers quickly.

They were saying on the news that there is a strain of flu going around that was not covered in the flu shot this year, and it is everywhere! So you might get it, even if you get the shot---wonderful I thought!

If I go back to the place I bought your card, I will buy you another, so you have an unaltered one for your collection.

GINA!!! Girl--you are doing SOOOO great!!! You look wonderful! I am so very proud of you! And with all they yummy things you mentioned, and you still lose all that weight---you are my hero!!!

Travel safe!

Well....I need to clean the kitchen up~~stew was good, and it is an easy clean up too!!!

TTYL~~

Went had my appointment with Malley today. He got his haircut and I didn't get a chance to tell him how much I liked it. He was pretty sympathetic about my not losing any weight. He was just glad I made it thru the holidays without gaining. I'm still upset about it though. I'm a better person than that and I'm bound and determined to not let that happen again. He cranked it down pretty good. I haven't eaten all day and finally had some yogurt for dinner. It's still sitting on my band. Hoping this is the one.

Weather is getting ready to turn bad here. It was absolutely beautiful here today. We even took Dogie to the park and walked around. He had a ball. I got called in to work for tomorrow. Will have to see if the sleet starts first, hope all holds off till I can at least get out to vote. Got to do my duty.

Judy- A big Thank You to a Guardian Angel.

Terri- Still keeping you and your family in my thoughts.

Jennifer-??????????

Everyone stay safe and warm evening and talk to you tomorrow.

Pamela, Have a great time in your spare time there. We stayed there when I was about 15 years old. We rode the Monorail into the park from there. As I remember it was a very nice place to stay. I'm sure it's changed over the years. I think there is a parking garage real close to the park, if you see it my brother helped build it. While he was operating one of the earth movers a rock pinged up and hit him in the elbow. He grabbed his elbow and rubbed it and said that when he pulled his hand away there was blood. So he went and showed his boss and he sent him to the hospital to have it cleaned. Turns out that he had been shot. They said it must have been a drive-by shooting and that it happens alot with construction workers.

It's Fat Tuesday and that means for us girls that we need to watch ourselves and not head back to that Fat Girl. So how appropriate that it's also CTCD. Let's be extra good today.

Everyone have a great day today. Tracy and I are supposed to get lots of rain, than sleet, than snow later today and by the time it's done we should have up to 7 inches. Come on Spring.

TracyK~ How is Frank feeling?

Kat and Judy~ Wanna come visit me in Palm Springs? Seriously, it is gonna be 74 this weekend.

I took some pix last night of my house to show my students. We are learning about scale and drew my house and they wanted to see. I am gonna post one of my living room and the new couch in the den.

The black couch is the living room...the beige couch is the den!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAURA!!!! Hope it is wonderful!!!

Pamela--have a fun and safe trip---check in when you can, and know your Violets will be thinking of you and missing you!!!

And yes, I wanna come to Palm Springs, I am so sick of winter!!! More snow predicted this week. At this rate, it will be mid summer before it all melts!!! No actually it is supposed to get to the mid 40's later in the week, so we will be flooding everything, as the deep ground is still froze so the Water cannot soak in....will make a loverly mess!!! Don't let yourself worry about me back here slaving away trying to clean up messes while you are off having fun....I will be ok, I am used to working, I have worked hard my whole life, don't you worry about me. See.... I HAVE been listening when my MIL talks! And I am learning how to do it!!! LMAO!!

Suzanne--how scary for your brother!!! Did the bullet just pass through? Those things are so scary! I have not been back to Dinseyland in 10 years either...we keep talking about it, but chose to wait til the grandkids are old enough to take, and now my grandson is so wild---looks like we will be waiting awhile!

Today when it warms up a bit---oh and gets to be light out(!!!) I am going to pull Kinsey up and down our alley on her little saucer sled! She loved the snow yesterday Manda said, and figured she will like that, and it will be fun exercise for me! Also plan to hit Curves. I have not started my water yet, I am slowly working on my chocolate milk!!!

Will check on y'all later, play doh is calling!!!

Kat

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

Good Luck this procedure is well worth it I am down to 249.6 lb please continue with the process..

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

    • LeighaTR

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
