Jennifer I got a question for you. It ends up we have customers booked all day everyday while we're there :rolleyes2:

We actually had to cut one customer due to lack of time.

Anyway, we're asking them suggestions for restaurants in NYC. He asked if I'd ever been there and I said yeah but I went to Jekyl & Hyde as a touristy dinner, I don't know about the restaurants there. He wants us to pick a place, but he said Little Italy is good. I know one of the other customers picked out a restaurant there, I forget which tho.. anyway, he sent me to the Little Italy website (I looked stupid, I go "That's an area, not a restaurant, right?" lol.. he laughed). He mentioned Pellegrino's. Is that a nice restaurant? We want to go somewhere nice, but not somewhere we have to dress up. He also mentioned Uncle Jack's. They want to get drunk (seems to be a trend in this industry), but I do want it to be a nice place. If not Pellegrino's or Uncle Jacks', what is a nice restaurant in Little Italy?

****TUESDAY'S TIP OF THE DAY****

HOT chocolate

A group of graduates, well established in their careers, were

talking at a reunion and decided to go visit their old university

professor, now retired. During their visit, the conversation turned

to

complaints about stress in their work and lives. Offering his guests

hot chocolate, the professor went into the kitchen and returned with a

large pot of hot chocolate and an assortment of cups - porcelain,

glass,

crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling

them to help themselves to the hot chocolate.

When they all had a cup of hot chocolate in hand, the professor

said: "Notice that all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken,

leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to

want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems

and stress. The cup that you're drinking from adds nothing to the

quality of the hot chocolate. In most cases it is just more expensive

and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really

wanted was hot chocolate, not the cup; but you consciously went for

the

best cups... And then you began eyeing each others cups.

Now consider this: Life is the hot chocolate; your job, money

and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and

contain life. The cup you have does not define, nor change the quality

of life you have. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail

to enjoy the hot chocolate God has provided us. God makes the hot

chocolate, man chooses the cups. The happiest people don't have the

best

of everything. They just make the best of everything that they have.

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. And enjoy

your

hot chocolate.

It is so wintery here, the hot chocolate felt fitting!!!

Kat - I have so much trouble with oranges now. I almost PB'd on Sunday with one. It finally went down but not before I made a fool of myself in front of my family. I had to walk around fast, flapping my arms and beating my chest. Everyone was laughing at me!!

Good afternoon, violets.

Just back from my hospital shift and I'm eating some chicken salad and bean salad. It's not going down easy so I'm keeping it slow. I've got homemade chicken Soup on the stove for the Bobster when he gets home. I had 1/2 an english muffin this morning with Peanut Butter for Breakfast, but could only eat 3/4 of it. It didn't want to go down either. Haven't had much Water today, but I'll start on my 1st liter an hour after lunch.

We're under a snow advisory for tonight and tomorrow. RIght now it's 44 and everything is melting. All that is supposed to freeze during the night and 40 mph winds will create blizzard conditions. arghhhhhhhhhh!! They are also saying another storm is coming in over the weekend and first part of next week. Sure glad I don't have to worry about traveling anywhere!

I worked out on the mini-trampoline last night and it was soooooo much fun! It's really great to do while watching tv. Only problem is, I slammed my little toe into one of the legs of the trampoline while I was walking around it. Got a big, fat, black and blue toe now.

I did my bike and glider last night too. Just can't face the elliptical. I think that will be the Bobster's machine.

TracyK..hope you're hanging in there. Doesn't sound like you should be at work, but you do what you gotta do!

Going to do a little bit of cleaning before daughter Kris gets here after class. She's spending the night tonight and I'm fixing shrimp parmesan with angel hair Pasta. and of course more bean salad. I'm hooked on that stuff.. good source of Protein.< /span>

You just wouldn't beliebe how cold it is here today........15 degrees witha minus windchill. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. And it's snowing.

Sounds like everyone is doing good with there eating and that's a good thing because today is CTCD. Hope you are all getting in your fluids.

TracyinKS---- Have you seen the commercials for "Jess & Jim's Steakhouse"? The big juicy hamburgers that are free but that have a $5.95 delivery charge? Everytime I see that my mouth just waters. I asked hubby to take me so I could have one bite. He just laughed and called me a "cheap date".

Well, all that Water that I have been drinking for the week payed off. Went to weigh in this morning and lost 9 lbs. Now don't get excited. Last week I had gained 4 and the week before I gained 2. So actually I'm down 2 lbs. I'll take that. I knew I had been retaining water and that's exactly what was going on. So since Dec. 4th. which was my last Dr.'s appointment I have lost 8 lbs. Yikes, that's awful and I know it. I still have till next Monday to lose some more and I'm going to be on my best behavior. I'm going to keep pushing myself and reminding myself that I'm worth it. It may not be a pretty picture right now but in another year I'll be happy I did this.

Everyone have a great day.

Haydee---I grab my little orange, and a paper towel...to hold the peel, then as I eat it, if I come across some that just refuses to chew down into mush...it joins the peel in the paper towel!!! I usually eat them only at home, so I am not spitting out food everywhere!!

Judy your weather sounds like it is a day behind ours----we had total white out conditions last night, and it was thundering and lightening while it snowed sideways!! Wierdest weather I remember ever seeing!! We are supposed to get hit this weekend again too. I am sooooo ready for spring!

Suzanne---glad your scale is moving in the right direction now!!! WTG!

Maybe what you lost is your fear of flying---then you can go to SA!!!

Hey can't blame me for trying....you need to go!

Ok off to find food for the bottomless 3 year old!!!

Yikes, gone for a few minutes and the format is changed again!!

Just finished 15 minutes on the trampoline. It's so darn easy and doesn't hurt my joints at all.

Suzie... you really have to come and join us!! What about drugs, duct tape and WD-40??? Those three things can take care of EVERY problem, ya know!

Love Pelligrino Water. I miss mineral water:redface:. The screen looks weird. My mouth watered on that hamburger suggestion Susie.

Ok, having my 3rd period this month...WTF:mad::rolleyes2:. I am so tired of these little surprise visits.

20 oz of water down. I have a 16.9 oz for after lunch...then I will really push before dance class (pretty sure I can go)!

TTFN

Judy~ is your bean sal w/ kidney, garbonzo, green Beans w/ italian dressing? YUM...may make some tonight. Let me know if it is different.

But food? No problem. I mean, I have restriction, but I can still eat a good size amount. So. I guess I need to run back to my fill doctor and get checked to make sure I didn't stretch my pouch. Can I shrink it back down if I have?
I think they put you on liquids for 2-3 days, Haydee.

Just kidding... I'll do it this week, Wednesday Thursday and Friday and i'll see how I feel this weekend... This is perfect because I started TOM today and otherwise I would have eaten everything under the sun!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
