Thought maybe you would like to see my DD and her hubby. I don't know if I've mentioned it before but my DSIL is 7 feet tall. He takes all the comments in stride, but it can get annoying. I made him a t-shirt that has a wide eyed guy pointing a finger and it says. (close your eyes, Kat) "Damn, you're short!"

This was taken at the Pistons game a couple of weeks ago. The shirt I'm wearing was tight on me last year. Just like your shirt, TracyK!!

Aww, mmm 7ft tall men are my thang. Oops, I didn't think that out loud.

Ok I just had my preliminary interview for the show tomorrow. I'm nervous. She told me I needed to hook up a mic so I can talk live (SIGH) I hate my voice, I really was hoping I didn't have to do that.

THEN she asked who will be in the audience cheering for me. I said my mom (I brought her to Secondlife a while ago, she likes to play Bingo and slot machines, etc.).. my business partner (which is my RL husband), possibly my dad (he said he may make a person to sit in the audience), and my rl best friend who is also a clothing designer there.

Well, mom is coming over here to get on her laptop from here.. my best friend will be BUSY tomorrow, so she can't make it

And my dad doesn't think he wants to do it.

Any of you guys who can pick up on things quickly, care to make a person in SL so I can have more people in the audience???? It's free to download, free to play..

And so we're clear.. emotional eating isn't just bad emotions

I'm so excited today I've been craving a pizza. I DON'T EVEN LIKE PIZZA!!!!

But I ordered a small one with all the veggies and ham on it. I ate the hell out of some topping.. then I tried some bread.. then I barfed ALL of it up. Go me.

And I was eating it while I was talking to my mom and best friend, being all excited, not paying attention.. blech.

Judy you look great!!

Laura, if I could figure it out and not work tomorrow I would try to be in the audience. Keep me in mind for a later date, and will try to figure it out!

I am kind of excited to find out where we are going! It is like a prize!!

Kat I hope all is well with you and your family (dad).

Tomorrow is a long day at work and then babysitting my neice tomorrow night. She has a fairly severe case of Autism so she is not the easiest to handle, she is 6 1/2 and is so cute!!!!!!!

Well off to bed, hopefully I will wake up and find out where I am going in May!!

Hi girls~~

Back at the motel finally--what a day. Not terrible, but not wonderful. I believe Dad had a mild stroke during the procedure---he has lost feeling and control of part of his tongue, so his speech is like a serious lisp, but he won't shut the hell up for 2 minutes, he talks NON STOP!!!!! Making me crazy. Not all of it is making sense, and then it is like he realizes it, so he tries too hard to be technical, or serious or gets all philosophical (sp?) on us. Nerve wracking to say the least, and I have only been listening to him for the last 5 hours! He had surgery about 7:30 -8, the Dr. come out and said he had done well about 10:30---that they usually recover them in CCU, but there was not a bed, so he was going to the standard recovery room---and he was in there until 4 this afternoon, waiting for a bed to open up!I was unhappy about that---but I don't know if I could have taken him all day! I am so relieved to get back to the motel room....Mom is reading, there is no TV on even, I think we were both craving silence!!! I hope he is better tomorrow. The worst case scenario was massive stroke, and that did not happen, they think it is a temporary thing due to the nerve being strangled to the tongue by the breathing tube in his throat. I hope that is true.

I have not had a chance to look at any of the $250 deals---I scanned posts....but things have been too crazy. I promise not to whine about whatever gets voted on....I doubt with the differing time zones, I will make it through looking at things and get voted in time.

I did not get to check in last night, I let my Dad surf, he was a tad nervous!!! He surfed, I read. Then I have no idea if it was the strange place, the bed (which sucks!), the noise, (wasn't bad at all!), nerves....lack of DH in bed---or what---or all of it, but I slept maybe 2 hours max last night. Then sat in a hospital chair all day---from 5:30 this morning. Since he had no room, we had no place to put all of his things---and of course he wore his cowboy boots, and had his hat...not to mention my Mom has a tote with puzzle books, and games, and Snacks, and we have coats---it was only 3 degrees with the windchill when we come in a bit after 5 this morning! So we also have Dads coat, both our purses---it was too much crap to drag around, so we just sat!

I refuse to sit in a motel bathtub or I would go soak!!! I guess I will hit the shower, my Mom will be raring to go in the morning!

Thanks again for all the prayers we had behind us. Will hopefully check in tomorrow night from home. God Willing!

Oh yeah----my new little filly, we discussed her imprinting---they think may have singular vision only in one eye. Tim called my cell today--he shoed her, and she kept throwing back her head on one side---which they do to see things in front of them. Horses see 2 ways---they see from the side of their noses to behind where you sit on the saddle on each side, but it is not especially clear---and that is what he thinks she is missing on the left side. He said she will toss and look down her nose at him. And she tries to kick, which is new, if you approach from that side....terrible news. Hope it is just possibly an infection or a nervous Pervus him thinking it. I dunno.......maybe lighting in the barn?? I don't know enough to even hazzard a guess!

OK I am tired and rambling! Off to the shower with me.

OH one more thing, I got a PM from an LBT member who lives in my town!!! YEA!!! We are going to try to meet up next week, ironically she too is in ALBQ today for her seminar, she is not banded yet.

OK I am outta here~~~Hugs~~~~

Kat - What a day you had!!! UGH! I hate hate hate hospitals! You've had more than your share of 'em the last few years so you must feel right at home! You must be exhausted. Hope you're getting some rest now. When will he be discharged? Oh, my sympathies to you about his speech/talking!! My mom had similar issues once ... you learn to kind of tune them out, then they get mad 'cause you don't answer them!! You never know when they're saying something 'important' so you have to try to listen to everything, but that gets exhausting 'cause 90% of it is gibberish. My mom's doctor (who was a total QUACK) even said, "Why is she slurring so much? I can't understand her...It's driving me crazy!" This was her cardiologist (!!) who apparently is not familiar with the symptoms of a stroke!

Anyway, glad that you're still in one piece. You're the best daughter a parent could ask for!

Good morning V's-

Judy-wooohooo on the bathing suit AND the t-shirt. Isn't it great to fit into clothes that have just been in the closet gathering dust?

Kat-my dad had some trouble talking after his surgery a while back and the next day he was talking just fine. Have a safe trip home!

Laura-congrats on secondlife! That is so cool. Keep us posted about what happens.

Terri-hope you get to go shopping today! Have a great time

Michelle-and the decision is.....(drumroll)

Janie-Hope the babysitting goes smoothly. I know it will probably be a little tough but kids with autism are such special people. So full of love!

Pamela-isn't today the film festival thing you are going to? Have a great time!

Well I had said I wasn't going to change my ticker until I lose another pound and get to 179 but it may take longer than I thought. So I may as well go ahead and change it.

I am going to bring dd to the park today and run around with her. It is supposed to be around 66 today, a little cool but at least there is no rain!

Everyone have a great day!

Thanks Jane-my main goal is to just get to 17something first. Getting there first or last doesn't make a hill of Beans to me honestly. The only competition I have is with myself...I am my own worst competition too

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
