Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Recommended Posts

i just want to tell someone, anyone, I GOT MY FIRST TILL TODAY. I wish i was more in tune with what I feel on the inside. He took all the saline out, then put 5cc back in. I am starting my 6th week and have lost 26 pounds. I just cant believe I am acutally in the saddle and the pounds should continue to come off.....PRAISE GOD.

Melody....you sound sooooo excited. Yes, it's sometimes difficult to know if a fill is doing anything for you. I have had 2 fills. Took a month for the second one to kick in and then I was at perfect restriction. That was back in Oct and have not had the need for one again. I hope you notice more restriction with this fill. Good luck and keep us posted on your success.

Katy , I hope so much that you are able to keep the weight off if he can't do another band. I would never get another band myself, after the problems you have had. It's obvious that the band is not right for some people. Unfortunately, you are not the first person who I have heard of who have had these kinds of problems. The band can be dangerous for some folks.

Hi Oregondaisy,

I saw my GP today to discuss what the new surgeon had said. He understood and agreed with everything. He told me that he knew it was going to be bad and that he'd tried to get me to see another surgeon earlier on. He had but I resisted. Now that I have, he was able to tell me that he already has a patient he'd referred to Dr Padovan and guess who her first surgeon was..........yep, same one.

I'm finding out such a lot of bad things about the first surgeon, it's rather spooky. My GP said he was unable to tell me anything before. I wish I'd listened earlier when he suggested the changeover.

I'm down to 73.5 kilos = 162lbs as of today, which is a total loss of 40.5 kilos = 89.4lbs. this is the first loss I've had since 19th Jan even though I'm still very ill. I really wanted to get to my goal, which is only 5.5 kilos = 12lbs away.

I'm very glad that I've been able to lose all that ghastly fat anyway and even though I'm not well, I love the new me.

Best wishes.

Awesome weight loss! I believe the band served it's purpose. I continue to pray for you and a successful surgery. I have had two surgeries that were for adhesions caused by previous surgeries. It sucks!!!! Let's pray this will be your last surgery. Take care!

Wow...2 fills and you were at perfect restriction ! I've had 6 fills already. Dr said 1 or 2 more fills and I should be there.

You know it just doesn't seem fair sometimes. I am unsure why I only needed 2 fills. I did starve (or thought I was starving) for three months b/4 my last fill. After the second fill, I struggled wondering if I should get another. My fill did not kick in for at least a month or more. So happy I didn't get one. I think I would have been way too tight. I sometimes think that when people have trouble with being too tight that they did not wait long enough between fills to see what it would do for them. No expert here...just a guess.

We are all so different and is interesting finding out about each of you and what the rest of you require as far as fills and food. I have a feeling that there will be a time that I will need another fill. But, my doc would not fill me now (if I needed it) because I am a little below my goal weight. I like to stay on this side of hungry though. My biggest fear is to be too filled and start having trouble. I lived with acid reflux for so many years and surgery corrected that. I never want to go back there.

Hi Apples2,

What surgery corrected the acid reflux?

Best wishes.

I'm not Apples but the lap band surgery corrected mine, that and while doing the band he fixed a hiatal hernia I didn't know I had.

I have about another week before I get in for my fill. I really want one because I am tired of having to watch every single bite so carefully, but I am really afraid I will go back to throwing up in my sleep.< /p>

Phyll-I changed my pic back to the one I use on LBT. I had posted my daughter's boxer, Buddy as my pic because we just had to have him put down last week and it was my tribute to my first grandson. Did you send me a friend request? Don't remember seeing one from you.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
