From Memphis International Airport

Exit the airport heading west on Winchester. Go west on Winchester to 3rd St. (Hwy 61). Turn left on Hwy 61. Go to Grand Casino Pkwy N, turn right. Then, turn right onto Celebration Blvd , Grand Casino Resort Tunica will be at the end of Celebration Blvd.

Distance: 26.9mi

Time: 32 minutes (approx.)

Other Shuttle Services

An Airport Shuttle provides 24-hour service from Memphis to Grand Casino. Please contact the shuttle services for prices and other information at (662) 671-9250.

That's from the hotel website.

Also, I am driving, and if anyone wants to ride with me (but I may or may not be a smoker then :/ ) from Huntsville,AL if flights are cheaper, I have a 4 person car.

Hey All~

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE TO DO GRACELAND! I can't do the casino (see how fragile I still am w/ smoking) so Judy...and anyone else who doesn't want to gamble...we can do something else. I like to sit, drink and talk. I want to spend time getting to really know you all. How far is Memphis from NY? Is is not drivable (not being a smart ass ...just don't know).

The smoke kills me too--in the quantities you find it in casinos.

Graceland sounds fun---outlet mall shopping is great....but do we need to factor in the funds now to rent cars? Or how will we get there?

Jenn are you opting out because it is too far to drive? How do you think you would do flying with Violets with you?

I was so shocked to find everything changing! I was somewhat concerned with the activity option of our original choice, but figured, if they had these big cabins, there had to be entertaining things somewhere!!!

I DO want to spend time sitting around talking without my fingers getting all jumbled up!!!

If I had a strong opinion one way or another, I would post it---the truth of the matter is, it is not the where I was concerned with, it was getting to know the people that were going to be there.

Laura, have you been here before, and experienced how the comped rooms are handled?

We had comped rooms in Vegas several years ago, and it did not go well, so it makes me a bit nervous, but maybe it was simply a management issue.

Guess I will just keep reading to find out what is gonna happen!!!

I can't help but feel we lost our happy over all of this....

Don't worry about the rooms

I have been there a lot since I was about 15, and the spa is awesome. I get facial, medi/pedi everytime I go, I'm too scared to be adventurous with the fancy stuff, but they got the stone and mud baths and.. whatever else. They have the spa menu in the hotel rooms. We can rent a movie and hang out in the room, shop, graceland.. :myscared:

WOW!!! I think I missed some posts!!!

If we go to Tunica I will be driving there, so you can fly into St. Louis or I can also be a driver to pick people up in Memphis when I get there. It takes about 4 - 5 hours to drive from St. Louis. I have a small car so it seats four people with not a lot of luggage. I have a hyundai elantra 4 dr.

I hope I didn't start anything this morning about people not going. I just wanted everybody going that wanted to go.

I hope everyone has a great night and I am making tomorrow the

OFFICIAL STRESS FREE SUNDAY!!!!!

Remember I have a car available in St. Louis and Memphis.

Kat, I was surprised reading these posts since last seen this am. I am a little worried about everyones happiness.

For the record I am a non smoker, I would prefer people not smoke in my car, otherwise I can sit next to a smoker or whatever and it doesn't bother me.

Actually, we'll all be skinny minnies by May

I wouldn't say ride with me from h'ville with 5 people (it's a 4-5 hour drive), but.. to go to like Graceland and malls, I will have my car, which will hold 4 Violets + Me (Honda Civic 4-door).

Who else is driving? I think we will have enough cars there to get us around :myscared:

I am actually going there this weekend, we always go for my b'day to Vegas, but now we're way out here.. so we goin to Tunica, and my dad's playin in the WSOP events, so we like to watch him.

I'll snag a price list from the spa and some restaurants in the area and report back to you guys so we have $$ ideas.

Jane.. if I flew into St. Louis, could I ride the rest of the way with you?? I can fly out of a closer airport to me that way. (only 3 hours instead of 5). Do you have a couch I could crash on if I came in on the 15th?? and would there be a problem getting me to the airport on the 19th or maybe the 20th?? If any of that isn't feasible, just be honest and tell me, k? I looked to see if Jen could drive to St. Louis, but that's 16 hours for her. I do so want her to be able to join us. She was sooooo looking forward to meeting us all... just like the rest of us.

Judy,

I do have a couch that you can sleep on, and getting you to and from the airport is not a problem. I do have a second bedroom, but there is no bed, just a big desk and loveseat, but my living room has a great couch!! It really is the perfect sleepin couch!! Same goes for anyone else can arrange to pick up and deliver and I have a pretty good on time record! (Except at work!)

Wow...a person is gone for 24 hours and they're likely to miss something!

I'm just excited to be with you guys...I really don't care where. Judy, I'm sorry you didn't get your first choice....but I do believe you'll have a great time, don't you? I am REALLY sorry that you won't make it Jen  that is sooooo disappointing.

Michelle - I can't thank you enough for all you've done thru this process. I know it's enough to pull your hair out...but don't! Have several tequila shots and you'll be good to go again! It's just NEVER easy in any way to try to plan a trip like this. Someone always gets hurt or left out and tempers flare ...it's just the nature of the game. In a day or two we'll all be over that and the excitement will settle in again. You did a great job. We all appreciate it!!!

Laura - thank YOU for arranging all these cool accommodations! This will be a blast having the option of a suite to hang out it. We've done that for 2 weddings and it works out great!! For the record, I don't have any issues with sharing my room with anyone...except that I am known to snore! So prolly best if I sleep in my own...but I'd be more than happy to share a suite!! How fun!

Tunica....HERE WE COME!!!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
