Has anyone used Dr. Glasgow in Norwood??

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I am new at all this. I am going to the group meeting next week. I am hoping for the best. I called my insurance company today for the criteria, my BMI is under 40. Has anyone else used Dr. Glasgow? What was your experience? How long does the process usually take. I have HMO Blue, I have high blood pressure and insulin resistance so I hope I don't have any problems with the approval.

I am tired of being the chubby girl:(( I have a really hard time losing weight, I never really had any interest in surgery. I did a lot of research on the net, I think lap band will be good for me.

Yes. They are very nice over at Glasgow & Glasgow LLP.

I have BCBS too. However, my BMI was 51 when I started. I went to the first seminar in March, appointment with Dr. Adam Glasgow in April, many tests between May to June, and finally banded end of July 07. Now, 93 pounds lighter. However, I still have a long way to go.

Have any more questions, just let me know. I'll try to answer.

Sue

Hi Sue

I have my first appt. next monday. I am not sure what my BMI will be. I am under 40 today, if I have PMS next week I might just be over 40. I have gained and lost 10 LBs in the last week. How exact are they with the BMI, do they measure your height?

I was suprised to get my first appointment so fast, will the others come quickly or do you have to weight awhile. How long does the insurance approval take with HMO Blue?

Tracie:

Dr. Glasgow did measure my height and my weight. I know that he did the surgery for someone whose bmi was only 35 because she had other obesity-related issues.

I originally went to Dr. Glasgow in April after attending a seminar in March. He sent me for a variety of tests and my surgery was done at the end of July. So, it does take some time. His staff schedules all of the appointments and submits all of the paperwork, so I don't really know how long the BCBS approval took. It was being handled in the background. They're very efficient, professional, and friendly over at their office.

Good luck with your appointments.

Sue

Your BC/BS will most-likely approve your surgery; My BMI was slightly under 40, but I had hypertension, diabetes II & high cholesterol. They approved it without a problem. You should also show some sort of proof that you have tried various weight-loss programs; showed some weight loss then regained the weight. I made copies of my Weight Watchers & Diet Workshop weight records; prepared a print-out of my South Beach Diet on-line weight readings, etc... They attached those records to my other documents for approval. PS - You are in VERY GOOD HANDS with Drs Glasgow & Glasgow. They are very skilled, knowledgeable and conscientious. You will not meet a more qualified team to perform this procedure.

Hi Everyone!

My name is Kim and I am going for my prr-op appointment with Dr. Adam Glasgow on Wednesday January 30th and am very excited. I first saw him back in September and have finished my sleep Study, Appointment with the Nutritionist, got my letter from my Doctor and did my blood work.

What can I expect at the pre-op? How far am I from surgery?

I was referred to Dr. Glasgow's office from a friend who was banded by him. She always says such great things about him and his staff......

Hi Kimberly:

I am also a patient of Dr. Adam Glasgow. I think both of the Glasgow's are great.

I just checked my calender and my pre-op appointment was 13 days before my surgery. So, it sounds like you're almost there. If my memory is correct, when we got together pre-op he went over all of the tests, described the surgery again, answered questions, and gave me the pre-op instructions.

Best wishes for you. I love my band.

Sue

Sue;

I'm newly banded and have been inspired by your weight loss thus far. How much have you actually lost since being banded? You are my inspiration!

Alli:

Thank you. There are many people on this website that inspire me.

I was 324 pounds when I started dieting last April 23rd. I am now 224. I lost 38 pounds before I was banded - ten pounds from the liquid diet, 28 pounds in the the period between 4/23 and 7/16/07. So, I guess that means that I've lost 62 pounds since banding, almost 6 months ago now.

I walk alot - 4 to 5 miles per day 6 days per week. It was easier when it was warmer out, but I still do 4 miles outside each day, and up to 1 mile on eliptical inside. I hate the eliptical. I love putting on my mp3 player and walking. If I had the time I would probably walk more each day.

I wish you success with your band. Let me know how you're making out.

Sue

Hi,

I had my banding done on August 12th by Dr. Adam Glasgow. He and his dad

Arthur make a wonderful team. They are caring people.

The office crew are also wonderful. Kind and efficient.

I had my first seminar meeting on June 23rd. Throughout July and August I did my bloodwork, sleepstudy, nutrition and psych counseling. I was ready for surgery on the 12th of August.

So far I have lost 22 lbs...between the preop and post op diet.

I have my pre-op scheduled with Dr. Glascow on 5/12/09. My surgery is scheduled for 5/26/09. I can't tell you how excited I am, now that things are finally falling together.

My first meeting (seminar) on March 3rd got cancelled due to snow. I went April 8th for the seminar and booked my first appointment with Dr. Glascow that day.

I have BCBS, and it seems to be moving along quite nicely. I do have co-morbities (high blood pressure, high cholesteral, and now possibly pre-diabetes).

I can't wait!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
