Couch to 5K Anyone want to start with me ?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

Well, I HAVEN'T started swimming yet. For some reason I'm just as reluctant to add another activity to my repertoire as I am to do everything else! I think I might be a commitment-a-phobe.

However, I did finish day one of week 9 last night. This time, my running partner and I have decided to KEEP RUNNING!!!!!! So, instead of quitting all-together for 2 months and having to start the program over, I am just going to CONTINUE to run 30 minutes/3 miles 3 times a week and start working on speed. What a novel concept!!!!!!!

I think this thread is officially dead. Well, regardless--I'm going to tell anyone who cares that I ran 5K last night!!! Even though I've completed the C25K program twice now, I've never before run a 5k--have just been running for Time, not Distance. But, last night I did it! It took me about 35 1/2 minutes, I averaged an 11:32 minute mile, and it felt GOOD!!! Woo Hoo!

Hey Stranger,

No, this thread is not officially dead. I've been following it during my recovery from surgery and I can't wait to be actively joining you guys again.

Great job!!! You're doing wonderfully, and I've enjoyed the updates!!!

Daddy, I think I congratulated you on the Tri, but if I didn't, you'll have to forgive me because I'm on drugs right now ( :)).

Congrats!!!! You're a rock star Sir!!!! :mellow::thumbup::cool2:

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
