And so it begins...day 1 of my pre-op liquid diet...

Recommended Posts

I'm already annoyed and sick of it lol I'm HUNGRY!!! And I'm already tired of drinking everything. I want actual food. BUT.... I know this is for the greater good. It's only for a week, and the first 3 days are always the worst. Thank goodness this is for my revision, so I already know what to expect with this since I've done it before. Just not having ANY fun with it. At all. Nope. Already ready to be done lol

Thanks!!! Today is day 3, and it's definitely the worst day. Tomorrow should start to be better and days 5-7 should be a breeze. As long as it follows the same way as last time. But the first 3 days....omg......

Ok, so day 4 sucks, too. But mostly because I have headaches, dizziness, and major fatigue. I'm only getting around 600 calories per day, which at almost 14 months out from my original surgery, is a problem. But there's nothing I can do about it. I drink 3 shakes per day, unsweetened tea, Protein Water, eat sugar free popsicles (for the calories at this point), and sugar free Jello. I'm over the "omg I want foooood" part, but now it's the side effects of not enough calories. UGH.... I'll be glad when I get this surgery and can heal and move on already!!!

My second time was also harder even though I knew what to expect. But before you know it, you will be 6 months post-revision. Hang in there.

Same. I did not enjoy the preop diet the second time around.

Yuck. Day 5 is just....yuck. But I'm almost there, so I'm just hanging in there.

I wonder why it's worse the 2nd time? We already know what to expect, we know what shakes and broths and whatnot that we like this time, I don't get why it's so much harder now.

Because I didn’t want to do it 😂

Thats my hands down honest assessment. It was like “been there, done that” I didn’t think there was any real need for me to experience it again. But I completed it because it was required.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
