5 days post op... am I feeling too well?

Recommended Posts

Little bit about me... Had the lap band in spring 2007 after hitting a high of 450... dropped down in to the 320s... stalled, had some different life issues cause some emotional issue... needless to say I bounced back up nearer to the 380s at one point. Settled in around 360 and decided to go get a revision to DS... which was Friday. Weight at surgery was right about 360. Stepped on my home scale this morning... 338.4.

It's a lot in a short time. I feel like a million bucks, though. I've taken minimal painkillers other than tylenol in the last couple days. Woke up with some pain in the center of my back and couldn't really get comfortable after that... so I took one of my happy pills this morning at 8. I've done a good job staying hydrated, slightly under Protein target but working on it. I've been able to move around the house (up and down stairs as well) without much issue. All the internal plumbing is working. Follow-up is tomorrow morning with the surgeon.

Should I be waiting for the other shoe to drop? Am I doing *too* well to expect this will continue? Is reality going to kick my butt in the next few days?

I had RNY - so a different surgery - but I had no issues at all, and almost no pain (didn't even bother opening up the bottle of pills they sent me home with). I wondered if they even did the surgery. So no - not uncommon - and the other shoe may never drop for you.

Good for you! Luckily most of us do come out the other side of surgery just fine. I'm 8dpo and doing great. I'm losing fast too. We're both heavier so it makes sense and it is the liquid stage. Losses will stabilise soon and not be at such a crazy rate. I'm losing about 2 pounds a day which is nice but it's very short term, like a honeymoon phase. Keep up the good work and join our May Buddies thread if you haven't already.

Glad you're having an easy time! The only thing I'd say is to expect a small stall soon. Not to poop on anyone's parade but I've been on here long enough to know this is usually what upsets people early on but it'll be completely normal & it'll break on its own :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
