Ladies, how'd you navigate the ever changing bra size? Just cheap bras until things normalize? Sports bras?

Hanes makes a line that runs small, medium and large— I have been wearing them for years (after breast reduction I gave up underwires) and they still fit when i was heavier- and now. I am going to eventually find a replacement for my favorite as they discontinued it, and I am so sad…

Im also wearing the bras I previously wore- sizes too small that just sat there waiting for these days. THankful I didnt toss them out.

Good luck!

I went through four size changes. The first time I bought 2 or 3 new ones. Got fitted properly because I’d experience back pain if the bras I was wearing were too big. I thought I was safe when I got to my goal weight & bought a few very nice ones. Bad move as I kept losing. All up I went from an 18E to a 10E when my weight stabilised & been the 10E for a couple of years now. Have empty upper boobies but the bottom is still full. The only bras that fit me properly are an expensive French brand (others are too narrow in the cup) - sigh! I’ve spent hours being fitted in other (cheaper) brands & styles but nope that wire would dig in the side.

The only breast change I’ve had since then was when my HRT wasn’t working (absorption issue) & one breast got a little larger. Still the same cup size but not as many gathers in the upper part of that cup. Fixed the HRT issue but still have one breast a little fuller.

I tend to wear crop top bralettes around the house even now. I started to buy & wear them them as by the end of the day I’d get pain from the underwire pressing on my bony ribs (much better now). I buy Bonds (Haynes) which I can pick up at the supermarket here in Australia. Not hugely supportive but comfortable & stretchy.

I donated all my bras as they got too big.

I wasn't able to wear a bra for a few months. The ones I wore had to be way too big, because I couldn't handle anything putting pressure on my diaphragm. It still bothers me, but it's getting much better. It's really only been in the last month or so that I've been able to wear bras that fit properly. Oddly enough, in some brands I'm now a C and in others I think I might be a B.

If you have a costco membership, they sell two pack sports bras for $12 or $13. They have no under wire but do have thin pads that help prevent uniboob. They are comfortable. It's what I have been wearing for the last year since surgery.

I ordered online a bra with no underwires. I could get them from Target or Walmart sometimes but I just ordered the next size down when I was at the smallest hook setting and still could get a finger in there easily. Everyone’s shape is different. I just knew from the past that every 2 inches lost on the band usually meant a cup size down also. I don’t know about metric sizes or others ratios. Think about how you gained, did you go from a 40 D to a 42 DD? You will go backwards the same way roughly. Extra skin and pregnancies will skew this slightly too. Underwires are so much more expensive, so that was my deciding factor. That first year I went through a lot of bras! Don’t forget to buy new underwear too. You can get away with baggy pants but the undies need to stay up!

Fab thread. People lose weight and bra sizes in really different ways, don't they? I have gone from a 40 band to a 32/34. Cup size H to DD/E. I bought 1 or 2 new bras every time the current ones became ridiculously loose. Not even sure at 18 months that I'm in my final size so I cannot buy expensive bras even now. Once I settle I will.

I mostly use sports bras since I work from home. The old ones were too tight, 40H so they were good for 3 months, I then found a pair I was going to give away but forgot size 40DDD wireless and wore those for a couple of months, then had a 38DDD lying around for 1 month. I finally gave in and bought a few at One Hanes Place online, 5 bras for $89, got a 36DDD even though it said I should be wearing 38E and put an extender so I can get a few months out of it.

I like the idea of an extender, but that still doesn't answer the cup size. I dislike sports bras, they don't give a nice shape. Unless there are some better ones out there. I'm not huge, even for my weight (40D).

Pre surgery I was a 40K, so far Ive lost 50 lbs and I'm now a 40L, it feels like they're just becoming ridiculous sized.

Could be from the oestrogen flush? Oestrogen is stored in fat & as you lose weight it’s released into your blood stream causing an increase of the hormone. It can cause changes in your menstrual cycle (heavier or lighter, more or less frequent, more or fewer PMT symptoms, etc.). You can also become more fertile - be careful. It does settle as you lose more.

Have a chat with your doctor/gyno. Maybe request a hormonal blood test to see.

Ok ladies, I'm almost to goal. The boobs are sad and saggy. What recommendations, other than surgery, do you suggest. I've tried a few that are more sports bra like, but I don't like the band that comes around the upper abdominal area. It bunches and is uncomfortable. I need something that will lift and round them out. I went to Dillard's 3ish months ago, and they sized me at a 36DDD (US size), I was dumbfounded because all that's left is skin and glands (there is literally nothing left). The 36 band is too big now, and it's hard to find anything in a 34 DDD/DD that is comfortable or carried in store. I would love to eventually get my breast done, but until then, how can I make them look normal under clothes.

My husband, bless him, is so supportive of my sad, saggy breasts.

Thanks!

Sports bras for sure. I'm almost at my goal weight and my boobs are flabby, saggy, and dropped from a full D cup to a saggy B cup. Can't wait for my skin surgery, Tummy Tuck, and boob job. I just want them back to where they used to be lol

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
