Anyone having surgery on 4/18

Recommended Posts

My surgery is on 4/20, diet of mostly shakes with two cups of non-starchy vegetables daily. I hate the taste of the shakes, so have probably only been able to drink 1.5 - 2 each day. Can't get enough of the vegetables, so may be going over the two cups a bit. This is hard.

Trishrivs it is hard. I’m halfway through mine liquid only. I’m struggling with stomach pain. I think it’s from all the artificial sweeteners. I don’t drink much of that stuff on a regular basis. How far along on pre op diet are you on? What shakes are you using?

I honestly bought every kind costco had available! Fairlife, Premier Protein and Orgain. I also have Clean Simple Eats powder that I've been using. They are icky sweet and all too chalky for my liking.

I started pre-op last Friday, but cheated a tiny bit on Easter - nothing crazy, but had some chicken and a couple of shrimp.

I just want something more substantial, like tuna, an egg, or chicken - I'm done with the artificial stuff!

Yeah the artificial stuff is really hard for me to. Just keep reminding yourself of why you are doing it.

I had my surgery today and everything went well. I’m staying overnight and minimal pain. Looking forward to feeling 100% as it’s real hard to shake the lethargy from the anaesthesia.

My surgery is on 4/25, and I am on day 4 of shakes. Just pushing through to get to surgery day. So sick of these shakes at this point.

I was the same way toward the end. I would start gagging from drinking the same things over and over again lol. You can do it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
