I had the sleeve last year and I had to take 2 weeks off work. No way was I able to drive myself anywhere. I had a hard time walking and sitting up. I would say wait until you're surgery is over and you're at home to decide how long you'll stay out of work. Everyone's pain tolerance and mobility after surgery is different. You might do great. Or you might be like I was and in A LOT of pain. It's hard to predict. But I know the severe fatigue after the surgery gets most of us and makes it almost impossible to go back to work right away.

I agree too! It’s major surgery!

I’m glad to hear you walked around inside your house. That’s what I’m doing. Laps around my house. I can’t get to the point where I’m presentable to be outside

Anyone having sharp aches in their right side incision?? I’m only 4 days post op so I’m sure it’s normal but no other “incision spot” is sore except for this one… didn’t know if there would be a reason. Calling Monday if it still hurts as much as it does now…

My right incision is more tender too. It’s the largest and the bruise is horrific. It’s the spot where they removed my stomach. It also doesn’t help that I have an allergy to the adhesive. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Anyone else sleeping a crazy amount?? I could literally sleep 12 hours straight. I’m going to have to start setting alarms for meds/water/ Protein. Had surgery on Wednesday… still sore, almost all gas is gone.

I’m definitely having long sleeping spells. I wake up, walk around for a bit, then I can fall back to sleep in minutes. I had surgery on Monday.

I'm so thankful for these answers. I literally have cried every day thinking I was not recovering properly because of the pain. I had surgery 4 days ago 🫣

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
