Doc is out of town and I need help.

Hello everyone, I’m two months post op and I’m having a lot of trouble getting any food/liquid to stay in my system. I have tried just about everything and nothing seems to sit well with my stomach. From clear Protein, Protein Shakes, Jello, Beans, Soups, and much more. Some days I only get some Water in and throw up everything else, other days I can keep down just a tiny bit of the protein. I’ve also tried spacing out my intake and drinking slowly and taking tiny sips or bites but nothing seems to work. I’m starting to get really worried because I’m feeling more nauseous than before. And I’ve recently started to get light headed and almost fainted today. Unfortunately my bariatric doctor is out for the next two weeks. Should I just go to a regular physician or clinic? Will they be able to help? I’m a bit hesitant since I’m so comfortable with my surgeon but I don’t think I should wait two weeks either. I may be overthinking going to another doctor

Yes go to any Dr or even the ER especially now you have got to the point of passing out

Definitely go to the ER. Call your PCP and let them know what's going on and then head to the ER. Be sure to let them know about your surgery and issues. Are there other surgeons in your surgeon's office you can see? Or at least call the office and let them know what's going on. If it was me, I would call ALL the people and then head to the ER.

You might have a stricture, even if it's something else it's not good that you can't keep anything down, and if you've reached the point of passing out you need immediate medical attention. Does your doctor's office have an emergency answering service? If not, as someone else recommended you should reach out to your primary care physician or even the local ER.

RNY or VSG? If you had RNY, I would agree with the person above - it's most likely a stricture. They're an easy fix - go to the ER and they'll do an upper endoscopy and stretch it out for you. You'll feel 100% better afterward (I had two of them - they almost always occur 1-3 months after surgery, so you're in the right window of time for one).

if you had sleeve, I'm not sure (could be a stricture - but they're not very common in sleeve patients). In any event, I'd go to the ER. People can live for quite awhile without food, but not fluids. You need to get that looked into ASAP.

I would go to the ER but while your waiting You may as well call the surgeon office and tell them you are at the ER and ask them if you should ask for a certain specialist or a specific test. Then of course do whatever test the ER recommends as well since they are the ones seeing you.

I agree with everyone above. Too easy to get dehydrated when we are keeping things down... if your at the point your light headed and passing out you need to go to the ER.
