LaylaC reacted to ShoppGirl in Chicken and black bean nacho recipehttps://www.eatthis.com/chicken-nachos-recipe/
it’s basically just Nachos but with chicken and black beans so they are a little healthier Than the original. I’m going to try a few with baked tortilla scoops and reduced fat cheese.

They often say to hold off on fruit for a little while - partly due to the sugar content I think. Avoid skin, seeds, coarse/fibrous/hard (like apples & pears) flesh, etc. I was advised to begin with berries but the first fruit I had was watermelon. I think it was a couple of months out.
Check with your dietician to be sure.

LaylaC reacted to Orchids&Dragons in Sour Cream Chicken Enchilada SoupOK, I was craving bariatric-friendly Mexican food this week and couldn't find a recipe that grabbed me, so I made this one up. Obviously, you can vary the seasoning/spiciness to taste. This isn't too spicy because I can't handle that right now. Hope you enjoy it!

LaylaC reacted to Jnfinney in Paleo easy homemade pancakesI don't do paleo, but I do really like this homemade protein pancake recipe:
-1/2 cup quick oats
-1/2 banana
-1 egg (or 2 egg whites)
-1 scoop of protein powder
-1 tsp vanilla
-1 tsp cinnamon
Blend it all together to make a batter, then cook them like regular pancakes.
You can substitute applesauce or pumpkin puree for the banana.
You can add a little bit of milk or water if the batter is too thick (but I like mine thick).

My plan had said unsweetened applesauce was ok to be used to mix in crushed pills. So in that manner, fruit itself isn't a non-starter.
However, they also didn't want the extra fiber soon after surgery. And the priority is always on protein first.
Without your plans actual guidance it's hard to say. Myself at one month out would be ok with a little soft fruits - not going to fill up on it as that would take away from my protein goals. I don't think I'd eat a raw apple at this point - but perhaps one that's been stewed or cooked in a dish.

I am one month post op and I am unhappy with my decision to have bypass surgery. My family and friends continue to tell me I’ll feel happy later on when I loose all the weight and doctors keep telling me eventually I’ll feel normal again. But I feel like there is no end in sight. Im not happy, constantly in pain, hungry but i can’t eat, thirsty but i can’t drink. I was excited before the surgery and wish I was happy now. Did anyone else feel this way? I feel alone when I talk to the few people I know that have had this surgery because they’re all very happy with their weight loss.
