TORe Gastric Revision Procedure

Recommended Posts

Good afternoon. I just joined the forum, and I was wondering if anyone has had the TORe procedure done? Thoughts? Weight loss after? I have an appt this coming Monday for a consult. I had gastric bypass 9 years ago and lost 110 lbs but never got to my goal weight, plus I've gained about 20 lbs since the bypass. I'm just trying to weigh my options before I commit to anything.

Thanks Amy

Never even heard of it. I had to google it. So basically its just suturing your pouch even smaller thru your mouth. I didnt even know there was a revision after bypass. Pretty interesting.

I have lost 30 lbs so far I was on a liquid diet for a bout a week than went to soft foods. Now i am on a high Protein with little to no carbs. The weight is coming off slow now but I had lost 20 lbs before procedure.. I have gone from a size 24 snug to a 14/16 or extra large.. ALready taken off 2 of my diabetes meds and have had my blood pressure and thyroid meds cut back..

I'm down 8 pounds in 4 weeks. Slow and steady wins the race but I wish it was faster. Hoping to drop another 25.

I had the TORe procedure done 6/15 and I weighed 201, and this morning I weighed 188. I feel great. I haven’t had any issues at all since surgery ( nausea & vomiting) and healing was rather quick. I felt like my normal self after a few weeks.

Awesome! Glad to hear this has been a smooth process. Did insurance give you and objectives? If you don’t mind me asking what insurance do you carry?

Stay well💖

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
