Pre-op suppository and SHORT ARMS!

Recommended Posts

I had my pre-op appointment yesterday and will be having surgery at 12:30 P.M. today. The doctor gave me a suppository laxative to be inserted at 8:00 P.M. last night. Now I can reach back there, but unfortunately my arms are too short to get the suppository in far enough so I had to commission my DH to help me put it in and it was NOT CUTE! I just have to share the story because it is so funny.......so here's the situation:

We are in a hotel room, directly across from the elevator. I assume the position for my dh to insert the suppository, he snaps on the rubber glove with authority, verbally declares himself "Dr. Big Daddy" and he starts putting it in. boink.gif Unfortunately, half of it broke off so we have to go for round 2 which is where the fiasco begins!

Now he is getting really frustrated and starts raising his voice issuing the following commands that seemed to echo throughout the room: yell.gif"Hold your butt cheeks apart so I can get it all in. yell.gifStop squeezing your butt cheeks together, everytime I get it in, it keeps sliding out. yell.gif Come on baby, I need you to relax so I can get it, stop tightening up." (Come on, that is an exit only area for me and I am not used to having something shoved up my rear so naturally I am tense.)

Then, he inserts it in as far as it will go,:omg: and he has long fingers! So now I yell at him.... yell.gif"Ow, you put it in too far, that hurts." He yells back, yell.gif"Well, your squeezing your butt cheeks too tight and I had to shove it in deep to make sure it stays!"

I can now hear people laughing in the hallway, remember our room is directly across from the elevator. Can you imagine what the people at the elevator must have been thinking?????? I know they heard us because I could hear them laughing. Well needless to say, I started cracking up and of course the darned thing didn't stay in!

Now the worst part is, he has to do this with the anti-nausea suppositories for the next week! faint.gif At this rate, I may forget all about the pain in my incisions because I am being sodomized every 8 hours by suppositories from Dr. Big Daddy. mmph.gif

Just thought I would share that disgusting and funny story. I will be leaving for surgery in a few hours. I will let everyone know when I am back at the hotel.

ROFLMAO!!! Oh man!!! That is too too too funny!!!!

I don't think I could bring myself to suppositories! I had to drink a bottle of magnesium citrate the night before surgery (in a hotel also).. my DH (DF at the time), and my mom & g'ma came.. mom & g'ma had their own room, and I was so afraid I'd be loud and noisy with the poos, I asked DH to stay in their hotel room till I was 'done'. Ended up not being as eventful as I thought, but I would just die if I had to get him to put a suppository up there.

Thanks for the story, that was too much!

I didn't have to do any of that pre-op. Post-op my dr gave me oral anti-nausea meds and they worked just fine.

As for short arms. Post-op I was really swollen and unable to wipe with my short arms. DH was such a saint and ended up with a new watch since he put up with me.

Have fun!

Eek, I hope I dont have to do those! I had my tonsils out in November and for day 3-5 (the most painful days) on top of the regular painkillers they gave me they also gave me some suppository painkillers. Well needless to say I put my big girl panties on, sucked it up and dealt with the pain cuz there was NO WAY I (or the bf) would be stickin it up there.

Mona...

When you get home give me a call. I don't want to call you because I don't want to wake you up. Between your sleep schedule due to your job and just having had surgery I don't want to call and bug you.

Dang girl! I got lucky. I just had to wear a little patch behind my ear for anti-nausea. :whoo:But I stayed at my mom's for 2 weeks after surgery. She did have to wipe my butt. Thank God for Moms!:clap2:

I got the patch for nausea also, it was the Dolculax suppository pre-op that got me, LOL. If I need the anti-nausea after the patch wears off on Sunday then I guess I will have to ask Dr. Big Daddy to sodomize me again.:heh:

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
