Well yes, Ted. I do some stupid things too. Having said that, I shouldn't think we all are in that category that has to be reminded, "Don't Iron clothes on body," or "don't use blow-dryer in the shower," either.

Be safe....

How are our medical teams supposed to know which of us are situationally stupid, generally stupid, or just a rare episode of not seeing the obvious?

For me it's not generally an issue as most folks grasp that I'm smart pretty quickly. In fact, I'm often quickly told that I have a smart arse.

Good luck,

Tek (Not Ted)

The only thing I'm going to fuss at you about 😀is the coke. Carbonated beverages aren't a good idea at this stage of the game, especially if you drank it with a straw. Remember . . . no straws. Have you tried premade Protein Shakes? I stomach them a LOT better than the powdered ones. I use GNC Lean shake 25 g Protein Swiss chocolate. I swear by it. Don't worry about calorie counting at this point, but do try to get something down. Bone Broth? sugar-free popsicles? Jello? Something! Take care.

My surgery center has no issues with straws and says that carbonated beverages are fine after 4 weeks. I use straws in my iced coffee and I'm drinking a Diet Dr. Pepper right now (No straw but that's personal preference).

OP needed to get something in their stomach. They accomplished that. Was it ideal? No, but passing out wouldn't have been better.

I agree with your suggestions on pre-made Protein Drinks, Bone Broth, sugar-free popsicles, and Jello. I also got Tom Yum and Hot and Sour Soup and just drank the broth.

Fluid is more important than Protein when you're just starting out

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
