Just curious as what questions are asked of you during the psych evaluation. My consultation nurse told me the therapist will ask certain questions to evoke certain responses.

Mine was a joke. They didn’t even ask about my eating. Seemed like more of a formality than anything. They are supposed to pickup on any untreated issues like mental illness, drug or alcohol abuse or eating disorders.

I took this online test that I think went about an hour. It seemed to ask the same questions over and over, using different wording. I think, like ShoppGirl said, they're looking for signs of untreated mental illness, addiction issues, etc. I talked with the person one-on-one afterward. I think he also wanted to make sure I had realistic expectations from the surgery.

I agree mine was a joke. I could have saved time and just taken a buzzfeed quiz. Literally the only question she asked me that wasn’t on the printed form was if I had a good relationship with my mother. It was super confusing and when I asked for clarification she asked if I felt like I could confide in my mom. I told her she had pretty bad dementia so…not really? After hearing that she immediately went back to the form questions and didn’t vary again.

Over a year later I am still curious about that. Why my mother and not my father? And what exactly was she looking to glean from that? Anyway, the answer that both my parents have dementia and can’t be confided in because it would confuse and upset them wasn’t a disqualification for surgery, for what that’s worth. 😅

I just had a teaspoon of hummus with a teaspoon of avocado topped with a teaspoon of greek yogurt and it. was. GLORIOUS. I'm four days out and my surgeon gave me the greenlight to work in small amounts of pureed food.

😫 Hi, I’m new to bariatricpal! I am 8 days post op VSG. I am struggling very badly. I’ve been so emotional because I feel like I’m doing wrong. I’m afraid I’ll eat or drink to fast or eat the wrong thing. I’ve been on Pinterest and YouTube constantly for help. I have followed all of my surgeons and dieticians instructions. I just don’t know if my body is getting enough. Today, I am weak, sore, and just exhausted.

It passes!! Everyone goes though it! It is a short term emotion! I'm almost five years post op! You made the right decision! Don't focus on the change right now. Try to entertain your mind. What your feeling only last about a week. It's related to your body adjusting and you mind adjusting. You got this!!

I agree with Tara it's hard right now but it gets better do t forget your hormones will be all over the place you may even feel depressed. Be kind to yourself reach out and talk to people how you are feeling .
