so fed up with chewing

Recommended Posts

I was a fast eater, so fast that I didn't taste anything, now I am supposed to stop that and chew, chew, chew. well, I'm having a hard time to get to a paste in my mouth. sometimes I have to use the blender, yuk. I pay the price with a golfball feeling and everyone knows the rest. I love food, I used to eat off everyone's plate, I admit I can't do that now, but I need to slow it down, I know I need to chew, but my head is still in the eat , eat mood. I have done well, but geez, sometimes I spit out my food, afraid to swallow.

Did that last night. I put some greek salad in a small piece of pita, chewed, then spit it out. I think I just wanted the satisfaction of chewing on bread!

I know what you mean; my daughter, banded a year ago, told me she doesn't enjoy eating now because it's so boring, having to chew so much. Plus, stuff that starts out tasting good, loses its appeal after you turn it to mush in your mouth. However, I think that's the whole idea of the band . . .

I think alot of us have done the spitting out thing. Sometimes I just take too big of a bite and know I'll be in trouble if I swallow it.

Down the road you'll start to forget what it was like pre-band. Band life know just seems so normal to me. It's almost 5 years now. Amazing how fast it goes by. Anyways..what I'm trying to say is eventually you'll get used to it and you'll be so happy with the new you, you won't miss the past at all.

BTW I don't blend anything up. That does sound horrid. Just takes smaller bites. Not so much chewing then..

Something i do is cut up all my food before I even start to eat it. Then I won't screw up and take too big of bite when I'm not thinking.

diaby, you know, you're right, I should cut it up first. The older I get the more --- anyway, thanks. I still miss the pleasure from eating. I love the weight loss but I really miss eating.

I've seen posts from other bandsters where they say they use baby forks and spoons to make sure they keep their bites small.

At this point, I have a different perspective about eating. I rejoice when I have difficulties and have to chew, because it means the band is working and for the first time in my life I have a chance of losing this burden of weight and keeping it off. Hurray for restriction!

I don't like the feeling of mush in my mouth either. It's gross. I do find that I'm eating to fast though. Only three weeks out and I've already gotten stuck. What a horrible feeling.

I use toddler silverware, yes my 3 yr old and I share. It does help with taking smaller bites. But there are still some things that I hate to chew, mainly steak or roast. I've tried to eat them before and after a while it just gets to be a gross chewed up mess and I have to spit it out. Turkey that's too dry is another one of those things.

I do miss certain foods, like bread, but everytime I've tried to chew it I no longer like it. I seem to have lost my taste for a lot of things. As long as the numbers on the scale get smaller I don't mind not being able to eat things.

The love of food is what got us to the point we are at today. I have found that the band takes away a great deal of the pleasure of eating and I love that it does that. There are far more productive things I could be doing with my time.

I am on the pre op diet. All I have to say is wow I had a ton of time this weekend not eatting. It felt like I had a bunch of time to get everything done. Instead of like before where I would surch for a good resturant to eat at and wait to be seated and then wait on my food. Wow liquids I saved myself a few hours. lol

Even though we are not doing a "diet" for the first while we have to watch what we eat so we dont end up malnurished. (that is what my nutritionist said) After a while it will become second nature The carb really dont have a ton of nutritional value. That is why we eat them last.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
