Just had my first protein shake

Recommended Posts

I'm way early in the process trying to lose 25 pounds as my surgeon requests. Seems like a good time to get used to drinking Protein Shakes. So I just had my first one - Syntrax Nectar Grape with Water. WOW! This is not going to be easy! 😂

Try other flavors. I had good luck with Premier Protein powder… it’s like $22-26 on Amazon cones several different flavors… I’m lactose intolerant so I mixed mines with almond milk. It’s an acquired taste lol but so worth it… you’ll drop that weight in no time and can have your surgery and start your new life. Best of luck to you 🤗

I swore by OWYN ("Only What You Need") vanilla before surgery, and post-op I can't stand them and basically only drink Fairlife Core Power which is essentially chocolate (or vanilla) milk with Protein in it. Find the one you like now but don't assume you're going to love it after surgery, so don't stock up.

I always mix the fruit-flavored Syntrax powders with Crystal Light lemonade. I think they taste better that way - but then, not everyone loves Syntrax products.

I’m a fan of ghost Protein Powder mixed with almond milk. The flavors chips ahoy, Oreo and fruity Cereal milk really taste like their names!!! I like premier and Vega powders to, but never get sick of the ghost. They are sold out a lot on the ghost website so I always get them from gnc.com

I had the chocolate truffle with 1% milk this afternoon. SO MUCH BETTER!!!

the Syntrax one? I like chocolate and vanilla powders (regardless of brand) mixed with almond milk (or any kind of milk) rather than Water.

Yes the Syntrax but I'll keep that in mind and try other choco and vanillas. I want to get used to non-milk milks, too, since I can be a bit lactose intolerant. I plan to try soy and almond and hopefully make the switch, but not there yet.

YOU GOT THIS!!!! I have several favors of Bariatric Fusion shakes and they are very tasty. The chicken noodle Soup is my go to dinner shake. Nice to have something warm and savory after sweet shakes throughout the day. Today I mixed it with some chicken broth and a spoon full of strained fat free cream of chicken Soup and it was just heavenly. All of my other shakes flavors I mix with lactaid Protein. I’m 4 days post op, but so far so good.

Savory shakes - that sounds great. I'm a vegetarian, but I'm sure there are some out there. That's a great idea.

Doobie.

Just had the Syntrax Nectar Double Stuffed (Oreo) with 1% milk. Oh yeah! Now we're talking. Also had the Lemonade with ice cold Water and was much better than the Grape with room temp water. So I think I can do this.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
