What vitamins/supplements are you all taking? My doctor only has me taking a Multivitamin and Calcium. I'm taking Biotin because I thought it might prevent some Hair loss (it didn't) 😕

Since surgery in June 2021 I have taken 2 Bariatric Fusion multi Vitamin chewable and 1 Bariatric fusion Calcium daily. I recently had to add in a chewable fusion Iron 2x a week bc my iron is low.
Glad you mentioned the Biotin isn’t working bc I’m losing fair and was gonna order it next.

You need a high dose Multi-Vitamin such as Bariatric Pal's One-a-Day (or double "normal" one-a-day vitamins), sub-lingual Vitamin B12, D3, and 1500 mg Calcium Citrate. If your dietitian gave you other directions, follow them.

I don’t take any Vitamins any more. Haven’t since about month 8 (hit goal at 6 months) with my surgeon’s approval. While I was losing I took a multi Vitamin. Also took a Vitamin D to begin but was told to drop it because I had more than enough in my body.

I stopped taking Multivitamins because I’m not lacking in any nutrients - my three monthly blood work always comes back really good - except Protein ☹️. (My poor ability to absorb protein is a result of my gall surgery but I don’t have to take the Creon I was prescribed anymore because they didn’t help - just have to continue to be vigilant with my protein intake.)

What do your blood tests show? Are you lacking in any specific vitamin or mineral?

Once you stabilise your weight, it’s not as necessary for sleevers to continue to take vitamins unless you are specific lacking in something unlike bypass patients who need to continue to take them due to malabsorption challenges.

I just had blood tests done while on B12, Biotin, Calcium, D3+K2, folate, and a bariatric multivitamin with Iron.

2.5 months post-op, my B12 and folate are on the high end of normal (so am expecting to be told to drop those). My calcium is okay, my D3 is okay, and my iron is fine but my iron binding capacity is low.

I take Kirkland signature everything, no special Vitamins here because my levels were running too high with them. I take a multi Vitamin, vitamin d, and a b complex. Perfect bloodwork at my one year appointment.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
