Recovery & house sitting

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I just get the news that my sleeve will take place on Nov 5th! I'm sooo excited, but have a question to ask people in or out of recovery. I house/dog sit & was wondering how long I would need to request off of my calendar. These dogs don't do walks, but i will need to bend over to feed the pups. I literally just chill w/ them on the couch & do studying on my laptop.

So, how many days should I take off of my availability from house sitting?

Everyone is different but I cannot see any reason you can’t do that in a couple days. I was able to take care of our animals right away. I napped a little the first couple days but that should not be an issue. Dogs love to nap.

Likely the only thing to consider will be the lifting limitations. After surgery you will be restricted to lifting/carrying/pulling about 5-10lbs. The amount increases over time & every surgeon has their own preferred restrictions & timeframes as to how much you can lift & when. Ask your surgeon for their requirements & also ask when you’re allowed to drive again.

Good luck.

I found even getting up from bed or walking around my apartment to be quite painful for about 4-5 days. By a week out I was good. I have 4-6 weeks restriction on lifting more than 10 lbs, so lifting a large bag of dog food might be off limits, though there would be no issue if you just had to scoop food out of it. The other thing to consider is whether the dogs will climb/jump/walk on your abdomen. That would probably be excruciating.

I could have done that in a couple days but peoples recovery is allover the map. As long as you don’t have to lift anything and the dogs won’t jump on you I would say as soon as you are off pain meds so you can drive.

While I'm recuperating, I now only order everything for myself online. It turns out that it is very convenient, but the attitude to people is not very. I have not yet come across people responsible for their work, and the service was top-notch. My last purchase was cheap radiators, which of course, I had integration delivered to me. Now I don't make any online purchases without contacting https://www.radiatoroutlet.co.uk/electric-radiators company. And what delivery service do you use?

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
