Happymouse13 got a reaction from Tomo in Got the call today...APPROVED!!!!I am SOOOO happy! It has been a long journey, since March, & I got the call this morning...APPROVED! I am set for NOV 5th for gastric sleeve surgery. My PREOP is Oct 14th, so I'm assuming that is when I start liquid diet. I had heard stories with my insurance, since it is medicaid, on how long & tough it is to get approved. I was right on the borde,r 40 bmi, but I also was diagnosed with sleep apnea & diabetic, now in prediabetes. So what should I do now? Take pictures of before for after? FOr the people that have already had surgery, do you have any tips or "I wish I would have done this before surgery" type of suggestions?

Happymouse13 reacted to Debsgonnamakeit in November Surgery Buddies!!!i had gastric sleeve on Nov. 3 so i am 11 days out and all has gone as it should. Hospital stay was fine, I felt prepared for what was ahead at home with the 2 wk clear liquids. I am getting my fluids in but after a couple of days i could not stomach the sweetness of the protein shakes and did not tolerate the sodium in the protein drinks (yuk) so I have experimented with making shakes and having broth ect. Walks have been good, try to get a minimum of 3500 steps but I have what i call high energy and low energy days which, I imagine ,is expected on how few calories we are taking in. Very much looking forward to 2 wk appt and start on soft foods.
SO wondering if anyone else who is a couple wks out has had this happen? I was starting my morning - nothing by mouth as yet. Took my first sip of tea (decaf) and was struck with a horrific chest pain that was moving up and down and to my back. I couldn't belch or slow breath through it. I didn't think I had gulped but must have swallowed air. I ended up gagging and spitting up bile . Then pain gone. Lasted 3 or 4 minutes but frightening. Any thoughts? Don't want to experience that again. I do need to slow down........

Happymouse13 reacted to ladiecre in WatermelonThanks for the info. Now that I ate the watermelon I feel so full and excuse me for saying this The RUNS. I only thing is I feel weird. Not sure if its dumping syndrome but I have high tolerance for pain. It feels like my stomach is in my back or side with a little pressure and gas

Happymouse13 got a reaction from NicCat in November Surgery Buddies!!!Hello from 2 days post op. I just wanted to make a small list of things that helped me while in hospital.
1) lip ointment ( Aquaphor or anything thick & goopy) lips were really chapped.
2) Dry mouth swish...(I used Biotene) just make sure to spit it out!
3) Neck pillow
4) Ear buds & phone charger
5) Sleep mask
6) Air freshener
7) Hair tie
? Face wash & lotion helped too. I was very dry coming out of surgery.
***I also wore very loose, high waisted thin yoga type pants w/ oversize shirt. I almost wore a large maxi dress, but realized that they would need to lift the full dress up to check my wounds.

Happymouse13 got a reaction from Midearsweetheart in Non Dairy ProteinYou can make a smoothie (or just add into soups) with PEA PROTEIN powder. I haven't found an UNflavored one yet, but the vanilla is pretty good
