Puréed, I am so ready

Recommended Posts

I just finished my purée prep. I can’t wait till Tuesday. I have been longing for some real flavors for what seems like forever. Pictured I have ham, egg, seafood, and tuna salad all ready in 2oz containers. I have to make the chicken still but I got breasts to make fresh to cut down on sodium. I’m so excited lol.

what was the food you couldn’t wait to purée and taste after your liquid stage.

So super organised. Congratulations. The freezer & the microwave were my best friends when losing (actually still are 😆). Having meals ready prepped in the freezer (defrost, reheat, prep some vegetables & eat) simplified everything & I didn’t have to think too much about what I was going to eat. A boon on those I’m not really hungry or interested in eating but I know I have to have something days. Plus when you cook it yourself, you have control of the ingredients & how it’s been cooked.

Because my taste buds were pretty crazy the first couple of months a lot of things I thought I’d enjoy eating tasted disgusting. But it was nice to have some texture. I do remember I preferred foods that were a little more salty & the foods I puréed with stock or gravy were more palatable.

Good luck.

I like spicy, so I pureed some chicken curry, then thinned it with chicken broth to make a thick Soup.

Refried Beans with a little salsa on top were also tasty.

My favorites so far have definitely been refried Beans with a little salsa, and then this ricotta bake that reminds me of lasagna. Tomorrow I'm looking forward to trying eggs. You're a lot more organized than I am! On my list of things to try within the next few days, once I eat all the leftovers I currently have, are a puree of refried beans and ground turkey meat with taco seasoning, and then I was gonna try and do an imitation crab with a Mongolian sort of marinade and then mush that up. I am hoping it'll work cause imitation crab is generally pretty soft, so I imagine it'll mush well. There's also a "shrimp scampi" puree recipe I found that I wanna try. It's shrimp, garlic, parsley, low fat plain Greek yogurt, and a little olive oil pureed up.

Do you have a good recipe for the refried Beans? I get to progress to soft and/puréed food on Saturday and I am soooooo looking forward to it! I love refried beans but I’ve never made it from scratch.

Wish I had a recipe to make them from scratch but I know for me I usually just buy the Old El Paso, Fat Free refried Beans in a can. They are so good! Aldi's has a good one too.

I still eat them in the soft food phase with a lil bit of taco sauce, guacamole, sour cream and shredded cheddar. Soooooooo good!

Google is your friend. I've made a lot of beans in the crockpot since surgery. It's very easy and you can control the ingredients and make them to your taste.

I also just buy fat free refried canned beans. Add a little salsa to them, maybe even a little fat free cheese if that's fine by your surgeon. I'll be adding turkey taco meat to it when I make them in a few days and then blending it all up. Hoping for it feeling like I'm eating the innards of a taco! Seems like it would at least.

Sounds soooo good! I’m doing well but am so tired of the liquid phase, tired of Protein Shakes, in particular. I need to remember to check my pantry…I may actually have a can of Old El Paso fat free refried Beans tucked away (if they aren’t out of date!) Lol!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
