Some places are frustratingly difficult when it comes to Protein rich, nutritionally sound food options that are not heavy on the fried or processed carbs. Ask for a bun free burger. All the salad fillings & the protein but no bread. A beef patty can be fattier than turkey but it will be ok to have occasionally. Do any do chicken or fish burgers? Any Soups? Salads? Fish (ask for grilled)? Any all day Breakfast places where you could have eggs? (I chose something off a breakfast menu for lunch recently - poached eggs, spinach, avocado, yum.)

You could also take with you or purchase while you’re there, some protein rich Snacks like Protein Bars, cheese, yoghurt, Protein Shakes, etc. so if your main meals are protein low, you can go for protein rich snacks.

Good luck & enjoy your holiday.

I eat half an Impossible Whopper about twice a month. (in two servings and give the other half away) I love Impossible burgers.

Not sure if you're doing LAND or WORLD, but Disneyland has smoked turkey legs that you could share with the group. Pure dark meat Protein. Also, at Disneyland the Carnation Cafe does a really good cobb salad and they make it in front of you so you can add or omit anything and control the amount of dressing. The Blue Bayou restaurant does prime rib you could get with just a side salad.

And again, if it's Disneyland, the Bengal Barbeque by Indiana Jones does meat and veggie kabobs you can get without any sauces for a snack or meal.

HAVE FUN!

If you’re going to Disney WORLD, here are a couple places I would choose to find the healthiest dishes:
Magic Kingdom - the chicken rice bowls, pork carnitas rice bowls, or southwest salads at Pecos Bills.
Epcot - Sunshine Seasons has rotisserie chicken as well as grilled salmon options
Hollywood Studios - Mediterranean salad with Chicken at ABC CommIssary
Animal Kingdom - either Harambe Market or Satu’li Canteen for their bowls.

I’m not sure what the calorie count is on any of these but they are all options with vegetables and lean meats. Enjoy your trip!

How are any of you eating rice? I am 9 months out and still can't eat it. Not Pasta, bread, or really any carbs without getting sick and feeling sooooo uncomfortably full (even if I just take a few bites).

I’m 21 months post op. I can eat about 2 bites of rice and do pretty frequently. My son and I love our local teriyaki restaurant. We’ll get one order of teriyaki chicken, extra meat. I have 3-4 oz of chicken and a couple bites of rice and the rest is plenty for his dinner.

Oh ok at least I know I am not alone. If your 21 months out and can only eat 2 bites, I don't feel so bad about it. I honestly don't know if I will ever be able to eat carbs again without feeling so full, and sick. I just avoid it now. I thought at 9 months out I could be eating pretty much what I felt like, but I guess I am wrong about that. I still have a hard time with most meats. I also get very full after a few bites of anything and thought I would be able to eat more at this point.

It’s actually great. I’ve always loved rice, and pre op could eat a ton of it. I’m completely and totally satisfied with just a couple bites now and don’t feel like I’m missing out at all.

I would love to hear how it goes. I’m going in September. I’ll be almost 4 months post-VSG then. Will definitely be a different experience from my previous trips. (…although I have always aimed to share things!)

It was horrible. Good thing I packed alot tuna and epic chicken Jerky. Restaurants were hit and miss. Ordered off kids menu and ordered kids food with adult topping. But how much chicken can you eat. I threw all the Buns away. Mist restaurant had no sugar free e drinks I used alot of mio. Ice cream place in Hollywood and beaches and cream had fat free and low sugar ice cream but I ordered alot of Snacks that from baratric stores and used Uber eats. And other stuff. Shipt for special grocery items. Just pre pair for not alot. But you can manage we go 2-3 times a year and this one was tough I couldn't eat what I was used too. For go the dining plan alot cheaper paying for it I saved alot. Plus you don't eat much. Have fun let me know it your experience is different

@lekcir Were you staying on-site? I have only stayed on-site once (my last trip in Nov 2020) I'll be off-site for my 2 week trip in September - timeshare, full kitchen. So that has its advantages as most likely lunch will be the only meal in the park. Friend I am going with is open to sharing food too & she likes to eat pretty healthy (but of course, Disney Snacks end up in the mix)

I got an AP Pre-Pandemic, did 3 trips, then 2 more post-pandemic before it expired. Let the AP lapse, but since we were able to get a new one, doing another year of WDW trips. 2 weeks in January also booked. (I have lots of unused vacation time!!)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
