It’s only been about five months since my surgery and I’ve been having consistent stalls. I am nowhere near my goal weight. I have had some issues with birth control shots messing up my hormones but now I’ve been dancing around the same 6lbs gaining and losing them for two weeks. I’m getting my Protein, drinking my Water, and eating around 1000-1200 calories a day. I slowed down a bit on exercise due to another procedure I had to have but overall I’m still active. I just always feel bloated but Probiotics are keeping my digestion on track. Any advice? Or has anyone else faced this?

did you just start the Depo? I gained a crap ton of weight on that (this was years before I had RNY, though). If you've been on it for awhile, then it's probably not that - you may just be in a stall. They typically last 1-3 weeks. You shouldn't be gaining on 1000-1200 kcal/day -- so I would guess one of the two former things.

Maybe change up the types of foods you're eating for a few weeks, like eat different vegetables or different Proteins, or do different exercises to the extent your able to? But I agree with @catwoman7 that depo can cause weight gain so it could be from that, or just your body reacting to the medical procedure you just had. I hope you are able to lose again soon!

Oof, I’m a bit over 6 months and I’ve also been stalled for about 1.5 weeks. Very annoying, since I’m getting plenty of exercise and 1000 calories per day. At my height that’s definitely a calorie deficit.

I’ve just decided to step away from the scale for a few weeks and not worry about it. If I was snacking a ton or eating things that were off-plan that would be one thing but I just don’t think that’s the case. If I’m still this weight in in two weeks then I’ll be back here with a bit more panic and plans to shake things up. Otherwise, just the lovely scale driving us nuts as it loves to do.

Everyone experiences stalls. I am still going thru it now at 9 months out. Sometimes its 1-2 weeks and others 3-4. Have you tried to increase your Protein and decrease carbs and other things? Sometimes it works. Good Luck

I have found if I do a slight bit of carb cycling (having a few more carbs for a couple of days than I normally would) seems to jumpstart it a bit. The depo shot affects on my hormones were crazy and finally seem to be sorting themselves out but now I am facing issues with bloating. I think my body genuinely can't figure out when my period should be so it's just PMS all the time. I have upped my Water intake and am hitting all of my necessary intakes so I'm really just trying to trust the process at this point but am still getting frustrated. I think I am going to switch up my workouts for the next couple of weeks just to see if changing it up might kick start my body some. I also recently started being consistent with adding Miralax and Metamucil to the mix so here's hoping! Thank you all for your input!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
