Spices and seasoning

Recommended Posts

Hi. In preparation for my puréed stage (surgery date was 5/10), during the purée stage does anyone know any restrictions on spices and seasoning? (It won’t be anything spicy, I don’t do that). What about Everything But the Bagel seasoning? Thank you

I would think the only concern would be the small seeds. If they were to get into a healing surgical place, that would not be a good thing IMHO.

yes - the only thing we had to watch out for early out was small seeds. Since Everything But the Bagel has poppy seeds in it, you might want to hold off for a month or so on that one. But most spices and seasonings, no...they should be fine.

Yep to avoiding seeds. I had problems with fresh herbs at first. A bit coarse & difficult to swallow unless they were in paste form & puréed well.

Congrats on your surgery.

I used Mrs. Dash and liked it so much that I still use it.

It can get confusing & there always seems to be a new abbreviation to learn. Years ago there was a story in the Australian papers about a businessman who thought LOL meant lots of love & thought a female colleague was being unprofessional in her emails &/or was making advances & made a complaint to their HR dept. At least you asked. If he had it wouldn’t have hit the papers as an embarrassing story. LOL

I heard a story (and maybe this is some fake story that's been circulating - I have no idea) that someone announced online or an email that her spouse (or some other loved one) had died, and some wrote "LOL". They thought it meant lots of love!

Oh no. I hope that one was just an urban myth. How awful.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
