Had my surgery yesterday and so far so good. Was pretty drugged up yesterday…wasn’t prepared to be given so many meds after surgery but think they helped. Wishing the all the July peeps a smooth and easy surgery! Best of luck 😊

do you have everything ready for surgery?

I think I am getting there. I have some shakes, sugar free drinks, sugar free Jello & ice pops, broth, etc. I ordered my Vitamins. I think I just need to pack my bag & pick up meds for post surgery.

I want to get some meals prepped & frozen for my family while I recover, that way I don't need to worry about cooking much those first 2 weeks.

I went to the pre op class yesterday. So much to remember (when to stop taking vitamins/meds, when to start others, etc.)! I have an appointment with my endocrinologist the week before. Then sometime that week before, I need to go to the hospital for presurgery tests/bloodwork.

Getting closer & real! 😬🤯 🙌 😁

What about you, do you have everything ready? (& anyone else getting ready before surgery)

To those that have gone all ready, what was helpful to bring from while in the hospital? Is there anything that is typically suggested that you didn't need? What has been helpful those first few days? (Tools, foods, products, activities, etc.)

I took a light weight cotton lounging dress to wear home. Nothing with a waist line that might interfere with the incisions. I also took tennis shoes with socks. My doctor did not want me wearing flip flops. He wanted me in good supportive shoes. Get up and walk as soon as you can after surgery. The walking helps a lot! Good luck!

Surgery buddies! Mine is on the 14th too. Have you started your liquid diet yet? If so, how are you holding up!!

Candace76: set a timer. Every hour I either drank 1 cup Water or a Protein Shake. It helped me so much getting the liquids in pre-op. It has also helped post-op because I’ve stayed somewhat on that same schedule just stretched the cup of Water over the entire hour or hour and 1/2. Scheduling is the only way I could possibly do it

Thanks for the tip, I just set drinking & eating timers up on my phone through the baritastic app.

I did about 15 minute increments for drinking and made sure to give 1/2 hour break before and after meals.

Hopefully, it helps me stay on top of it. I hope it becomes more routine and natural after a while.

I took stretchy Lounge pants and an oversized T-shirt to come home. Now, this may be very personal, but I took a bra and sloggi pants for underneath clothes , big mistake. One of my incisions is directly between my breasts, no bra then!! and then sloggies were too tight on my over inflated belly!! 😂 so you can guess how I went home right there🤷‍♀️ but since then I’ve ordered a lovely soft bra and bought bigger sloggis to get me by🙏 Just don’t take too much into hospital, you really don’t need a lot. Good luck 😉

Onwards & upwards Anj0399, I had a dreadful reaction to the anaesthetic and was very sick the first night after op. But ok now, just learning what I can tolerate👌 It’s a new way of life and I intend to grab it by both hands 💕

All of these tips and hints are really useful! Thank you everyone!

I too did worry about surgery bag for hospital. But I’ve chosen a very large oversized night dress to wear for after surgery. Baggy pjs and baggy tshirt to travel home, I was planning on going bra-less for comfort.
I too have all my shakes, Protein waters, broth, ice lollies and jelly ready.

also doing a deep clean of the house to keep me busy during pre op diet which is going ok so far. How much weight did everyone loose on average pre op? I lost about 7lbs in the first two days. But maintaining now, I hope it’s enough.

good luck to everyone due in the next few days and I wish you all the best for the crew that have just comE out of surgery.

we got this! 💪🏻

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
