I was sleeved on Tuesday and I haven’t lost any weight and it is now Saturday. I feel like all of my fears are happening and I am going through all of this post op pain to remain in the same place I started. I am feeling very discouraged. Any similar experiences or words of wisdom would be appreciated

It is so difficult to understand but the body went through major shock. If I have learned anything from these forum is that everyone’s experience is very different and in some instances, almost the same. You have to give it a little time. Before you know it 20 lbs will be off

and it will be the start of something great.

that's not uncommon. A lot of people gain weight while in the hospital because of the IV fluids - some people gain up to 10 lbs from them. But of course, it's not a true gain - it's all Water (and it also has sodium in it - which makes some people retain it for awhile...). It takes a few days to work its way out of your system. I'd just stay off the scale for a few days if it's messing with your head.

My scale did not drop for the first week post-op, and then it was just a couple of pounds. At nine months post-op I still had reached my goal weight. @catwoman7is exactly right. Hang in there!

I gained 10 lbs after surgery - they pumped me full of fluids and it’s the trauma on the body. It will come off within the first couple of weeks (along with other weight). Stick with it - it will be fine!

The same thing has happened to me. Went to surgery at 260. Came home two days later at 268. I am now 5 days post-op and at 261, even though I am getting fewer than 600 calories a day. I agree it does a number on your head!!!

Sounds similar to my story.

Pre-surgical weigh-in on May 11 was 246.0. (Taken at the hospital, I forgot to weight myself at home prior to leaving.)

Home weigh-in on May 14 was 249.2. (Due to IV fluids and/or a discrepancy between the hospital's scale and mine?)

Today's weigh-in, May 22, is 240.2.

I've decided to count my weight-loss pounds from my post-surgical weight of 249.2... so at 240.2, that means 9 pounds lost in 8 days. 😊 (It's much more encouraging than 6 pounds lost in 11 days.)

They pump you full of sodium chloride at the hospital to prevent dehydration. When that Fluid normalizes you will have lost weight.

I agree. Just be patient. Stay away from the scale for a while if you can.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
