Sitting here this morning in my chair doing some reading. I glanced over to my table and saw the current yummy chocolate bar I’m working on. It has eight segments, each one 56 calories. I am now to a point where I can allow myself this treat and control it. Where back in the day this bar (plus likely quite a few other sweets) would be gone in a day, now I savor one square in the evening while I read. One Bar now lasts 8 days! I actually have to keep it sealed in a baggie to keep it fresh. In addition to all the other benefits, my sleeve has given me the control over food that I never had before.

That's awesome! I want to feel that freedom too!

I bought a similar sized bar of chocolate a few weeks ago and I don't even feel like eating it every day. I haven't had surgery yet, but I find that when I don't eat sweets, I don't crave them as much. However, when I go out to eat and the food is saltier, I do crave dessert more 🙁

I haven't had surgery yet, but I got invisalign about a month ago. Usually i'd down like 4-6 chocolate truffles right before bed, but now with invisalign, it'd mean needing to take the braces off, brush my mouth and the trays, and do that whole process that I usually have done well before bedtime already. The other day I went to get a taste of the chocolate and it was WAY TOO SWEET! SO crazy how our tastebuds and tolerances change just naturally.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
