What Was Your Biggest Challenge

I can’t believe you are still dealing with this. At least you found that warm beverages help. When you said tea you made me think of oolong tea (I think that was the name) it’s a tea that I tried for weight loss. Supposed to be an appetite suppressant. Maybe that would help?? I did lose weight on it. I just gained it back like everything else pre surgery.

Thanks, I'll look for that. My favorite (for the flavor) is Earl Grey. I find caffeine is a pretty good appetite suppressant so I start my mornings with about 12 oz of coffee, but I only like it iced... so that doesn't help in the hot beverages department. I actually find I'm most hungry between the hours of 10am-6pm... just like before surgery...

You won’t find it at the grocery store. You have to go to a tea shop. The good news is you can probably buy just a little bit to try or try it there.

There used to be a tea shop at the mall near me, but it closed. There might be one near where I'm staying in Toronto this week, so I'll see if I can find one. Otherwise I can probably order some online. Thanks!

I am going for work. I live near Boston. I'll be staying near Eaton Centre, near where I'm working. I love all the Asian restaurants there, but I haven't figured out what I'll eat now that I've had surgery. Last time I was there was about a week before my pre-op diet and I ate EVERYTHING!

Not murdering all the people who told me how gross I used to look pre WLS is my only regret. 🙂

within half an hour after eating my stomach is growling (different from the noises it makes during/immediately after eating).

I hope you have figured out by now that stomach growling is not a sign of hunger (they are just bowel sounds), and that you have learned true signs of of hunger post WLS. <Hugs>

I know the difference between digestion sounds and hunger sounds.

The challenge, as silly as it may seem, for me is to remember that it's a FOREVER change in lifestyle and eating habits and exercise patterns.

My biggest challenge is shortness of breath post op. My gastric sleeve surgery was Dec. 22, 2021 and I started having shortness of breath with any type of movement about a week later. I’ve told my surgeon and I’ve gone to the ER. I had a chest x-ray, ekg and chest Ct scan. They all came back fine. No blood clots or Fluid but the shortness of breath is not getting any better. If anyone has experienced this and can provide any suggestions please do. Thank you.

Have you had a Covid test? Shortness of breath is a symptom. I hope it’s not. Don’t put up with it though . Shortness of breath is not normal post surgery.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
