Food is disgusting

Recommended Posts

So I'm at a loss, the smell of food now makes me sick to my stomach especially when my family eats fast food. I struggled with eating because everything would come up, found out I had a small stricture. Had the procedure last week and have been trying to eat but nothing. Everything I've tried has come back up again and it tastes disgusting I mean just vile. The only thing that stayed down was refried Beans from a local Mexican restaurant and when I eat Greek yogurt but I'm getting tired of it. I cant even drink my Protein Drinks they make me throw up mucus. I know this won't last for ever but I have no clue what to do and I'm hungry. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice?

What about broth? Just keep the foods simple & more liquid then solid.
Talk with a nutritionist & see if they have any ideas for you.

I had the bypass 6 months ago. For the first month, I couldn't even drink Water without feeling sick. I had to get a script for a nausea patch that is worn behind the ear. I could only drink Peppermint tea.

By the second month, I could only eat Cream of Wheat, and a little bit of oatmeal.

I couldn't drink Protein drinks until my 4th to 5th month, and even now, I didn't drink them very often. I recently tried the Carmel flavored Fairlife, and I do like that one.

I eat raw, unsalted almonds, and walnuts if I get hungry between meals. It is my go to food. I haven't had a problem with it. Have you tried to eat Cottage cheese? I eat that instead of yogurt, because I don't like yogurt, and it has more protein.

I still have a lot of mucus when I eat. I have to spit after almost every bite I take. I asked the doc about it, and they didn't seem concerned.

Oh, and if my hubby cooked anything, the smell would make me feel so sick, I would have to go outside to get air.

I've been having some serious problems with nausea and food tasting disgusting. I have a script for nausea medicine but it only partially works and it doesn't solve the problem of needing to eat. What I have found that helps is chicken Bone Broth with a teaspoon of powdered ginger. Ginger naturally helps with nausea and digestion. Bone broth also helps and actually has an okay amount of Protein in it compared to regular chicken broth.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
