Depression after surgery?

Recommended Posts

I am taking Wellbutrin 3 times a day crushed and it is so gross I can’t stand it! I hope that I am able to take pills again at my one month post op. My depression is certainly worse and I’m thinking I’m going to go get a ketamine infusions liner rather than later.

I would call your dr office. I was able to take my Wellbutrin the next day In the hospital. They may normally have you wait without issues but you are having worse depression. Perhaps they will let you take your rx normal. Although it seems like crushed it would be working better not worse.

I have noticed low mood for a few hours at a time, even anger. I think it might be a grieving process for foods no longer available in my post-op life.

Oh wow mine was very insistent that all long acting had to be immediate release. I’m hoping it will be at my one month post-op that I can take regular pills. 🙏

If you’re female, it could also be estrogen from your fat in its way out, I imagine that might affect men too, but definitely a problem for women myself included.

I can't remember if you had bypass or sleeve, but with bypass, you do need immediate release meds. Extended release don't stay in our pouches long enough to do their thing.

you should physically be able to take pills the regular way at a month out. I was able to take mine (except for two of them) as soon as I got out of the hospital. After about three weeks, I was able to take those two the regular way, too

Yep, I’ve been depressed last two days. I think I overdid it a couple of days.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
