I noticed the same thing. I do have dry skin normally in the winter so I have been making certain that I keep up with Water. Maybe someone will share a brand of lotion that makes a difference with dryness.

I had the same thing but drinking all of your Water will help this. Also just make sure to moisturize right when you get out of the shower. But getting all of your water in is imperative and should help this issue.

I drink 3-4 bottles of Water and protein2o daily, ( that's 60oz minimum daily-80oz daily) - my dr and my NUT both said I'm hitting my goals. I do moisturize after my showers, too. It's really bizarre. Maybe it's the weather or something, but the dryness is very unusual for me. I kind of wonder if it's like skin starting to sag.

Hi, I had my sleeve 20 days ago and have excessive skin dryness. All over my body, including legs, arms, hands, chest, face. Lotion and aquaphor do not help. Just seems to get worse. Does anyone else have this after a sleeve?

Oh yes I have experienced very dry skin after vsg surgery. I am 3 weeks post op. I have to apply lotion more often than before.

Thank you!!! I'm on day 25 post sleeve and this dryness is driving me crazy. I feel I am the only one struggling with this. Have you found any lotion that works?

You're so welcome! 👍🏾😊..I use Creamy Cocoa Butter by Assured. The most interesting thing is it's from Dollar Tree and it works so great for my skin.

My skin has been really dry too. I'm not reaching my Water goals so that probably has something to do with it. Its so hard to drink all the water because it takes so long to eat and then Im so full. I sip throughout the day but find myself drink only 30-40 oz of water a day. Maybe I''l just try to drink 8 oz of water at once on a schedule instead of sipping throughout the day.

Anyway, I'm going to try this lotion too. Thanks!

I am applying lotion all the time. It is awful. The worst is my back where i can't reach to put lotion. It itches something terrible.

I totally agree with you about the water! It is so difficult to get in 64oz plus all your Protein and food. Sometimes I drink water in the middle of the night when I wake up to go to the bathroom. I drink about 40 to 50oz per day I believe. Our stomachs are so small now that it is nearly impossible.

It also takes me about 1 to 2 hours to eat a meal but I wouldn't trade this new way of living in for nothing lol. It's definitely a change. And you are so welcome about the lotion. I hope it works for you 😊

Me too! My hands are the worst. I apply lotion at least 2 times through out the day.

Vitamin D deficiency also causes dry skin so keep that in mind if Water and lotions do not help.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
