Hello! My surgery was just rescheduled from January 2021 to December 1, 2020. Now I am only a week away!

I am a bit worried that every one else has 2-week special diets before the surgery, but my patient guidebook says to eat normal the week before, and I just have to be on a clear liquid diet for 2 days prior.

I am also hoping that the surgery is not rescheduled last minute due to Covid. It was hard getting my shifts covered at work when the date changed to 12/01.

Wish me luck!

Just given surgery date of 12/14/20. My nutrition class is scheduled 11 days before. I’m concerned because I thought I had to be on a liquid diet for 14 days prior. Am I remembering this correctly? Also, did anyone else have some thoughts of being a loser because you couldn’t lose the weight on your own? I’ve been struggling with that.

Yes, I feel this way also. Though I keep trying to remind myself that I’ve tried it all before and that this is only a tool. It WILL fail if habits do not change and that I am ready for a new way of life.

This procedure will help give us the extra help we need to succeed.

I keep trying to tell myself all these things. I’m terrified of it not working, or it not being successful.

What’s the worst thing that can happen???
You get surgery, lose some weight but don’t change your habits. Then end up back to where you are now. WLS is the ONLY answer for successful weight loss once we. become morbidly obese. But,as they say, it’s a tool. Once we get a new tool we still have to use the older tools. It takes many tools to fix this problem. I guess the thing is, once u get them, don’t throw them away or leave them to rust in the yard.

Wow I know that’s nerve wracking! I’m monitoring everything while trying not to make myself crazy. Hope it works out for both of us!!!

Just got the call from my VA surgeon's office and I am locked in for 12/2. The only thing stopping me now is me or my surgeon getting COVID. So happy! Day 8 of my liquid diet and I am -11 lbs. The cravings have subsided and I just have a slight general hungry feeling. The next 8 days will be tough, but I'm halfway.

I am a fast track patient w Blossom Bariatrics in Vegas. Anyone else?

Hello! What counts as fast track? I am self-pay, so I just had my initial consultation on November 4, and my surgery is scheduled on December 1. I never thought I would be doing it within a month's time. Guess that'll keep me from overstressing for too long!

Sounds like we're on the same program. I am so jealous you're almost a month before me! LOL I can't wait to hear about your experience!

Surgery scheduled for 12/3. Still on track. No COVID calls. I’m in California.

I'm scheduled for 12/8. I'm very nervous. At the beginning of the year I was on top of my diet and exercise. I had some personal stuff in September and haven't followed a healthy eating diet since then. I just got my date. I don't know if I'm ready. My Dr is going to place me on a specific diet 10 days before but right now I'm just trying to go back to what I had practiced. Chewing 30x, taking sips, no snacking, avoiding carbs, Protein first, etc. I really want this, I'm just worried /:

Just got my FMLA approval letter for work. Surgery is on the 9th. All that is still pending is my pre surgery COVID test. Things are very real now and nerves are kicking in.

Hey All, I’m scheduled for 12/15 for the sleeve. Very nervous at this point! Mostly nervous about after surgery and not being hungry but still wanting to eat!

I check myself now before I eat and ask myself....are you REALLY hungry or just bored, or stressed or emotional. Every time I came back to myself saying I’m hungry! I don’t think I’m lying to myself...but what if I am, what if after a lifetime of being overweight (was overweight even as a toddler) I don’t really know the difference between the two?? Anyone else have these thoughts or am I the only crazy one?

I’ve watched every YouTube video I could find on WLS and no one addresses this.
I hope this makes sense and if anyone has had surgery already and can help me understand this, it would be so helpful!

thanks for listening!! 😁

Happy Thanksgiving! I’ve been rocking my preop diet. Averaging 600-900 calories a day. Lowest weight I’ve been in 2.5 years and it’s my cycle right now. I went ahead and had Thanksgiving dinner. I have to say I got full much quicker than I used to. Guess my stomach shrunk. I didn’t even make it to dessert. Guess that’s a good thing. Back to Protein Shakes tomorrow. Hope you all are hanging in there.

@LayersofBea. I'm December 8th too, but for gastric bypass.

Not scared of surgery. Not scared of recovery. Terrified that I won't be tough enough to not feel deprived and sorry for myself about 3 months into this. So scared I'm going to fail at this too.

However, my therapist reminded me that I've researched the heck out of this, worked hard on the 10 habits, set up my kitchen and pantry to support me and whole family with healthy eating, and spent the last 6 months preparing mentally and emotionally (in addition to physical prep).

How about the rest of you who are close? What are you feeling?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
