How long did you wait to get in for a fill?

Recommended Posts

I arranged for a fill last week... I have to wait almost 5 weeks!!! What is the avg time everyone else has waited to get on the schedule? The excuse for me was that they didn't have enough room to get to everyone since they only do it on Thursday and Fridays... :)

Thanks! Whisper

Hi there!

Most folks report that 6-8 weeks after surgery is a typical timeframe for getting a first fill. Other folks posted that they had their first fill as early as 2 weeks after surgery. It depends on the doctor. Waiting 5 weeks does not sound unreasonable.

Good luck!

Yes, My surgeon said 6 weeks...- but by the time I get in it will be overlike 10 weeks..

What I meant to say or ask is... when you ask to get scheduled for a fill... how long is the typical wait for getting it?

Does that make sense?

Tx, Whisper

It depends with my doc, sometimes I've rung in the morning and had my fill that afternoon, othertimes I've had to wait 3 weeks - since I'm 2 years out I dont book my next appointment in advance anymore, I'd only have to go see him if I wanted a fill or to discuss something.

I make the appointment for my next fill on the day of the current fill I'm getting if that makes sense. Let's say I got a fill on November 1st. I schedule the next fill for December 20th on November 1st.

I've never asked for a fill any earlier than when it was scheduled, although I have had to delay my fill appointment a couple of times due to scheduling issues with meetings at work.

I came across this thread yesterday and got nervous, since I had a regular check up this morning (three months out from surgery) and knew I was ready for my first fill. I may have misunderstood what I was reading and worried that I would have to reschedule a separate appointment for the fill. My concerns turned out to be unfounded as the doctor filled me right there. I have to say, nt knowing what to expect, it was a breeze. The doctor described it as getting a vaccination and that's exactly what it felt like.

I had my first fill 5 weeks after surgery, my second fill 3 weeks later, my 3rd fill is another 3 weeks later. I make my next appointment while I'm in the office.

12 weeks and still not had first fill. Only through constant ringing and writing I would have had to wait until 3 March 08 but now going on the 17 Dec. I bit scared as I can`t feel my port although I have lost 19 lbs with willpower and gym. I can eat anything and started to comfort eat being so disappointed.

I usually have to wait a week and half at most - not because of the doctor but because it is done in radiology at the hospital and the doctor books the fluroscopy room and does them all at once.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
