I have been 4 years post op with my gastric bypass underwent in 2016. Since this global pandemic I have gained weight due to the ability of working from home, stress, fear and the lack of exercise. I am slowly trying to fight against the challenges now the past 2 weeks such as discipline myself again to healthy eating, Protein Shakes, Water intake and going to the gym 3 x a week. What exercise recommendations can you shed on me which will allow me to burn fat most, lose weight and allow me to meet my goal. I am so close I can taste it.

Just return to your plan. It's not quick, it's not flashy, but it will get you where you want to go.

We got to our pre-op weights by doing crash diets, 'special' workouts, and every other dietary flash in the pan that came and went. You had surgery so you wouldn't have to live life this way.

Slow and steady wins this race.

Good luck,

Tek

Any cardio workout is going to burn calories, so there's not really anything better than any other. Intensity is the key because the higher your heart rate, the more calories you're burning. At the end of the day, that will only be one part of the solution. Your caloric intake also needs to be adjusted.

Have you switched off of your maintenance diet back to something close to your diet when you were in weight-loss mode post-op? If not, that is the biggest step to take. There will be a much bigger effect if you're able to exercise and burn 350-500 calories a day and you're only taking in 900 calories versus getting the same amount of exercise while taking in 1400-1600 calories a day.

Try to include some form of meditation as well. Stress can cause physiological changes that can cause weight gain just like a caloric surplus.

Hi- when I’ve been stalled I’ve done 5 day reset. That’s always jumped started scale again & kept it off. This is the one I used as has just 2 days of liquids. Maybe this will help you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
