I had my surgery a couple days ago and since then I've been on the liquid diet and I drink and drink all day without feeling any sort of limit. Is that normal? I'm starting to doubt that my surgeon even took my stomach out.

I feel the EXACT same way!!!!! Day 4 post op and I’m feeling totally fine(besides soreness of incisions). I’m curious to know if anyone else experienced this too!

Day 4 here and I'm taking slow sips. I get pain after drinking too quick. Like a rising painful burp, which I'm use to. Other than that, some pain on incision, ab area. Like when I'm rising out of bed.

I don't think I did, either (it's been awhile) - but you likely had some nerves cut so it might take awhile before you have feeling there again.

I was drinking Water straight away but like only one cup at a time Vs 1 bottle at a time still more than just sips even though the surgeon said only 1oz of water every hour I needed more...

Though I initially had pain on swallowing due to the swelling, I had no desire to eat or drink for days after. Remember, you’ve just had surgery & you don’t want to stress your stomach by pushing it too much. As @catwoman7 said nerves have been cut & you may not be getting the messages that you’re full or your stomach is uncomfortable yet. Take it slowly, pace yourself & follow your surgeon’s recommendations.

As you heal, you’ll find your stomach will quickly tell you what it can’t tolerate - loudly (growls, gurgles, ...) or physically (pain, tightness, vomiting,..).

You will know it as soon as you start progressing through the food stages particularly when you reach normal/solid foods. Even possibly by puree/soft foods.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
