I guess Florida is different or where I am have very low cases because I’m not required to get tested, but I mean this is also Florida lol

I live in Florida and I have to get a covid test on Friday for my bypass on Tuesday. Funny how everything is different everywhere...good luck!

PerezL84 good luck to you! And yes, mindset is important. I’ve decided no food funerals. I will start my 2 week liquid diet August 13th and until then, I will eat what I normally eat but I’m making a conscious effort to eat less/smaller portions. And my liquid diet is truly liquid- shakes, Bone Broth and Jello limited to 800 calories a day. I’ve also purchased exercise equipment that will be delivered to my house about 3 weeks post op and I hope to start using at about 4 weeks post op. I started looking into WLS in January and am so thrilled that I got approved (I have BCBS of Michigan).
Best of luck to you as well. NJ here. Going on my pre admission op test (Covid19) next week and I should be all set.

Give it a couple days those Protein Shakes will make you feel full. I called my doctor today because I wasn’t losing weight during the liver shrinking diet and he said don’t worry about, most lose a few pounds, but some don’t. He will still do the surgery regardless.

Hello Everyone,

I just got my surgery date set for August 26th, 2020. I am having the Gastric Bypass surgery. I am feeling a bit nervous but I excited at the same time. I am new here so any tips or general chats are welcome 😃

Congratulation on your surgery date, can I ask how long your entire process took before you got a surgery date

@dwgirl my surgery is scheduled for Aug 11th and I started my process Jun 11th. So, two months in total. My insurance no longer requires the documented months of supervised diets, thankfully! Good luck on your journey!

@wallflower95
Good luck today and keep us posted!

      On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
      Soooo I am coming to a realization
      of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

      Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
