Sounds like you are in the three week stall that lot of people experience for up to two to three weeks. As we go through the food stages and probably increase our calorie intake a little, our bodies take time to adjust. If you are concerned speak to your dietician, make sure you are keeping a food journal and are eating the food volumes and type of foods in your guidelines. Also make sure you are getting sufficient non calorie fluids.

Keep calm, it will come.

yep - you're in the infamous three week stall that almost all of us experience. Do a search for it on this site and you'll find hundreds - if not thousands - of posts on it. Just stick to your program and the weight loss will eventually start up again. My first stall lasted two weeks. Once it broke, i lost like 6-8 lbs within a couple of days.

you'll have other stalls along the way - it's very common. Just keep sticking to your program and they'll eventually break.

also, your weight loss is fine. I lost 16 lbs the entire first month, and I ended up losing all my excess weight (over 200 lbs). Your rate of weight loss has nothing to do with your final result - but your level of commitment DOES.

Agreed. My 3 week stall lasted 3 weeks, from about week 2.5 to about week 5.5. I was SO frustrated. But it broke and I've been losing since. At that time I went from weighing daily to weighing weekly. Doesn't change the numbers but at least I could not focus on them most of the week and just focus on eating my plan and walking.

I had my surgery last October. I’ve lost 48 pounds. Now I’ve been stuck at 191 for the last month. However I do struggle with getting enough Water In everyday. Could that be why I am at a standstill? Any suggestions. It’s really depressing.

Stalls happen for various reasons, but sometimes the body just needs a bit of time out to the adjust to the weight loss, the scale weight catches up eventually. Have you taken any photos or measurements to see if there is any visual weight loss (as opposed to scale weight).

You don't mention your height, start weight or current weight. If you are close to a healthy weight, weight loss is going to be lower and slower.

Water could be the reason, along with some other thing to consider...do you know how many calories you are eating? Are you tracking them? What type of foods are you eating?

Are you doing any exercise or a lot of incidental activity?

Did you change anything just before the stall began? Are you less active due to any lockdowns?

Any medical conditions or medication that hinder weight loss?

Thank you for replying. I am 5’2. I weighed 254 October 8 2019 on the day of my surgery. My health issues are PTSD and COPD. I don’t have pictures but my pant size has gone from a 20 to a 12. I do a little exercise with bands. I also bought a Cubii elliptical this past week. I track my food on the app Baritastic. I also track my steps.

stalls usually last about 1-3 weeks. If it's been more than that, double check your food intake. Are you weighing/measuring things? Are you logging everything you eat? Is it in line with your clinic's requirements? If no, that's where to start. If yes, then as you said, make sure you're not getting enough fluids - maybe step up the exercise (although as they say, weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise). Or if you're already doing all of this, maybe you're just in an unusually long stall. But if this thing drags on more than a month or so, double check and make sure you're doing everything you're supposed to be doing. Weight loss DOES slow down quite a bit the further out you go, but you should still be able to lose if you're currently at 191 (the last 20 lbs can be a real bear to get off, but you're not there yet...). It could be that your calorie level is a bit too high for you - but double check all of these other things first.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
