I was banded Oct. 16, and I am 69 years of age. I think I am the oldster on this board. I had my first fill 2 days ago and I can really feel a restriction. I have lost 28 lbs. The best thing I've ever done. No problems at all, so I really don't think age is a factor at all.:clap2:

I was banded 6 weeks ago, age 55. I was worried about doing it at my age and with my medical issues. Glad I did it - - sailed through the surgery with no problems. My doctor's website say's he considers surgery on 15 to 70 year olds.

I was 58 and very worried no doctor would do it as I'd heard I was too old-funny I don't feel too old. :P Anyway, I wish I could have had this done before I developed just about every co-morbidity there is related to weight. I was very physically active during my youth, but the weight gain really stopped me in my tracks and then all the related stuff about did me in. I do credit this surgery with saving my life. My insurace absolutely will not pay for anything like this to help save a life. :whoo:So I'll be paying back a loan until h _ _ l freezes over. :think Still worth it.

I looked into bypass surg when I was 57 and was told I was 2 old so let it go. As soon as I heard about lapband I knew I wanted it. Just wish I could've had it many years ago.

I just turned 56. I have seen several 60+ banders on the forum. I've seen the cut-off age around 70. When I started considering it last spring, though, and I was talking to my Mom, we discussed my age. I didn't want to get into a category that was "iffy" so I didn't want a long-drawnout insurance battle (not being a self-pay I could hav looked at at least 6 months to more than a year to get qualified).

I was banded a year ago at the age of 57. I reached goal within the year. I was so pleased about the new body that I have just had a complete face life, a surgery which is much more taxing for the body to go through by the way.

I just turned 48 and will be getting banding on the 29th of this month.

My doctor was the one who told me that I was still young and to go for it (even though I've had to be a self-pay because Kaiser in So. Cal will only pay for gastric bypass).

Sometimes I wonder "what if" I had gastric bypass 5 years ago when I first started my journey; but I'm sure that this is the place I'm meant to be, and that the gastric bypass didn't happen for a reason, KWIM?

Looking forward is a good view to have :)

I was 44 when I was banded - just 2 months before my 45th birthday. I also didn't need it when I was in my 20's but the 30's were hell - I yoyo'd through them and the first part of my 40's I gained another 50 lbs. I remember trying so hard to lose weight for my sons wedding and I ended up being at my fattest. BUT I'll be thin for my dd's weddings.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
