What is TPN?

Or what does it stand for?

TPN=Total Parenteral Nutrition. It's usually used on patients that for some reason shouldn't take in food or liquids by mouth. Are you having trouble with your sleeve healing correctly? Or are you having a leaking issue? We've had people at the hospital where I work be on TPN for a long time after non-WLS stomach surgery. They do labs and tinker with the formula in the bag to get the best nutrition results.

Hopefully, this is a temporary thing for you! I'm glad you are being able to do it at home through your PICC line. It's good that you got the PICC line because the solution given through a regular peripheral IV can be hard on the veins due to their smallness and people can get phlebitis from that. You have enough going on without having to worry about that. Get well soon!

I didn't know what TPN was until I read it on somebody else's response to your post. Sorry for what you're going through. I've been taking chewable vitamins since Day 3 after surgery and never had an absorption problem, my Vitamin levels are good.

oh, bless you, you poor thing. I had a volvulus (remnant stomach twisted tightly and cut off blood supply, made me very ill) post op and was converted to a bypass 1 week after my sleeve, in agony, couldn't drink, let alone eat also ended up with a picc line but the conversion to bypass fixed me kinda (still having issues eating) no TPN for me but headed that way if I can't get my intake and nutrients up. I'm also a nurse so have given TPN a lot.

Are you able to consume anything? What's going on with your gut and bowel?

Big virtual healing hugs coming your way x

I too am on tpn. I had surgery 11/7 and have been in and out of hospital several times. I have had 3 stricture dilations that have not helped. Mainly due to sleeve being twisted. I am barely able to eat or drink anything. I'm lucky to drink 10oz a day and have maybe 2 to 5 bites of food. Maybe 100 calories a day. They want to do another dilation I have told them this has gone on too long needs to be fixed. They say only other option is revision to bypass. But seeing the above reply I'm concerned :(

I wish you the best I hope they fix your issue so you can feel better! Hugs!

The bypass was a huge relief for me, I would go for it if I were you and stop all the problems, my twisted gut was severe hence the emergency bypass.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
