Monday, December 16 for me with a RNY. I'm on day 13 of the pre surgury liquid diet. Just finished my last day of work for the year. Got all my Vitamins and post surgery Protein mixes. I'm a bit anxious, which is normal, but looking forward to getting on the other side of this.

I just got my call last week and all approvals have come through. I already met out of pocket max earlier this year due to a knee injury so my WLS Team are being amazing and found a way to get me in before end of year when my plan rolls over. So 12/30 is the date... New Years present for me.

I have been working towards this for awhile but it is still such a shock that it is actually happening. Setting the date really took it out of the hypothetical and dropped it right square into reality.
I wish all you December folks the best.

I'm going in tomorrow, 12/17. I'm feeling a little panicky and am hoping I'm doing the right thing. I'm more concerned about making it through surgery at this point. I know the odds are "ever in my favor", but I worry about my daughter if something happened to me.

All legit concerns and it comes with the territory. Surgery is scary and the permanency of this surgery adds to the anxiety. Know that you are doing this for your health and so that your daughter WILL have you around longer. Focusing on the health aspects eases my mind about the permanency - perhaps look to that if you are overcome. I'm betting by the time you see this, you will be recovering and a few days post-op! Best of luck! I go in for surgery tomorrow! We can commiserate our recovery together!

Best,

Red

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
